Northern Brothers People’s Defense Force (NBPDF) reported launching an attack on the junta-controlled airbase in the Kachin State capital of Myitkyina. Utilizing 10 107-mm missiles, the assault occurred on 19 April at 9:55 am from close range. As of now, specific details regarding the extent of damage sustained by the airbase remain undisclosed.

The recent assault on the Myitkyina Air Force base, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Military Council in the Northern Military Command, marks the second such attack. It has been confirmed that all fighters from the Northern Brothers People’s Defense Force (NBPDF) safely withdrew following the operation.

According to the leader of the NBPDF, the Myitkyina Air Force base attack was the second in five months.

In a separate incident, at 2 am on 17 April, the Freedom Revolution Force (FRF) reported that the Defense Forces launched an attack on the Tada-U air force base, situated adjacent to Mandalay International Airport in Tada-U Township, Mandalay Region.

FRF officials said, “The assault utilized 10 107 mm rocket bombs and five 90 mm rocket bombs. While six of the 107 mm rocket bombs failed to reach their intended target due to malfunction, the rest struck the base effectively.”

The attack resulted in the destruction of an aircraft hangar and runway damage at the Tada-U air force base.

Tada-U Air Force Base serves as a crucial location for junta military jet fighters and is known for conducting numerous airstrikes across Myanmar, as per sources within the PDF.

The attack on Tada-U Air Force Base was a collaborative effort between the Freedom Revolution Force (FRF), Kyaukse Revolution Force (KRF), and Sintgaing Township People’s Defense Force. Despite facing artillery retaliation from the junta, the defense forces withdrew without sustaining any casualties.

Following the assault on the Tada-U air force base, approximately 70 soldiers from the junta conducted a raid in the surrounding area, engaging in area clearance operations, as reported by FRF).
