Spring Revolution Daily News for 12 June 2024

The National Unity Government (NUG)

· In a government meeting, the Acting President of the NUG stated that alliance formation must be the widest and the strongest to gain more secure victories.

· At 3:00 pm Monday, there was a meeting between the NUG Central Committee on the Interim Public’s Administration and Township People’s Administration from Sagaing Region.

· Ministry of Defence-NUG invited the youth who have been recruited by force for military service, junta soldiers and police to join the public.

· On Tuesday, Ministry of Defence-NUG announced that 45 members of the junta armed forces, including 3 army officers, had joined the Civil Disobedience Movement (CDM) in May.

· Daw Phyo Sandar Soe, a labour representative of the NUG, was elected for the Executive Committee of the International Labor Organization (ILO).

· On Monday, Ministry of Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Risks Management stated that heavy rain could continue in lower Myanmar including Rakhine State and coastal areas. They also warned of the dangers related to floods and landslides.

· Mon State Federal Council completed Federal Democracy Charters Awareness Training Batch (3).

Revolution Activities

· In Yinmabin North of Sagaing Region, a rally of ‘Let’s Never Get Back in This Revolution’ marched against the military dictatorship.

· In Yinmabin Township, a combined rally of local villages marched for the end of the military dictatorship.

· In Monywa Township, a PDF member lost his life due to a hand-made gun accident while fighting the junta army on Monday.

· In Pale Township, a social group supported kitchen utensils, blankets, mosquito nets and personal items to 52 households of fire victims.

· In Myaung Township, there was a bomb attack via drone on the junta army on Sunday evening. Reportedly, 7 junta soldiers were injured.

· In Sintku Township of Mandalay Region, the junta army fired heavy weapons into local villages at 6:00 am Tuesday. Reportedly, a teacher lost their life and thousands of local people had to run away.

· In Taungthar Township, there were bomb attacks via drone on the junta’s police station, administration office and Magyoyoe school on 5 June. Reportedly, 2 junta soldiers died.

· In Mae Sot of Thailand, local authorities raided the office of Spring Agent Support Team on Monday.

· In the International Labor Conference and in front of the United Nations Office, Global Union Federation led a movement on Monday, calling for the ILO to take immediate action against Myanmar’s military junta violating labour rights and killing the public.

· In Sittway Township of Rakhine State, the junta army has been driving away local people from 12 villages.

· Dr. Miemie Win Byrd, a retired lieutenant colonel from the U.S Army, met with the community of Southern California on 8 June and discussed Myanmar’s affairs.

Ethnic Armed Organizations (EAOs)

· On Monday, Chin State Council called on the Arakan Army to avoid military operations in Chin State, not to carry out administration against the will of the people in Chin areas and to stop human rights violations.

· On 8 June, Chin National Organization/ Chin National Defence Force completed their basic military training Batch (40). The Commander-in-Chief of the CNDF delivered a speech. Reportedly, 87 trainees joined it and outstanding ones were given awards.

· In the areas under Ta’ang National Liberation Army, schools were opened on Monday for 2024-25 academic year.

· On Monday, CDF-Thantlang completed Refresher & Combat Training Batch (3).

· Between Titain and Tuzan in Northern Chin State, the junta army blew up the Zalway stream-crossing concrete bridge, which had been important for local transportation.

· In Falam, the CNDF attacked the junta army for two days. Reportedly, 2 junta soldiers died.

· In Mudone Township of Mon State, New Mon State Party (Against Dictatorship) attacked a car of 10 junta soldiers on Mawlamyein-Thanphyu Zayat Road on Sunday evening. Reportedly, a junta captain died and a weapon was confiscated.

· In Winemaw Township of Kachin State, Kachin Independence Army seized the junta’s Laphaing Border Guard Camp. Reportedly, they took control of 3 junta camps on Tuesday alone.

· In Thandwe Township of Rakhine State, the junta army conducted aerial bombings and fired mortars into Hsin Kaung Village. According to the AA on Monday, 14 civilians lost their lives in the incidents.

The Military Council

· The junta leader Min Aung Hlaing said that they must continue to work for peace and stability in the Yangon Region.

· The junta leader urged every house with a yard to plant trees in Yangon Region.

· The junta propaganda team announced that they had arrested 9 people who had been attempting to carry out an explosion via 107mm missiles at the opening ceremony of the No. (3) Thanlyin Bridge in Yangon Region.

· On Tuesday, the result of the matriculation exam (2024) came out. According to the junta Ministry of Education, the national passing rate was 57.9%.

· According to the junta’s Insein Prison, 7 inmates sat for the 2024 matriculation exam and they all passed with distinction.

· According to the junta propaganda media, there would be action against the sales or rental of National Registration Cards, mobile sim cards, mobile banking accounts and other banking accounts.

· Yangon Regional Department of Hotel and Tourism stated that over 100,000 foreigners had entered the country via Yangon International Airport in the first 5 months.

· On Tuesday, a tical of gold was 53.4 lakh MMK and a USD was worth 4,370 MMK in the domestic market.

· The military junta claimed that they had been doing the UID cards for the people free of charge in Yangon Region. However, local people said that they had to pay 10,000 MMK.

· In Chanaye Thazan Township of Mandalay Region, the staff of the junta Ministry of Construction began demolishing 89 houses and shops near Bahtoo Stadium on 8 June.

Summary on 12 June

· The junta leader Min Aung Hlaing, who has destroyed democracy in the country and seized power by force, claimed that there must be safety and stability while walking on the path of democracy. He also blamed anti-junta people.
