Spring Revolution Daily News for 13 June 2024

The National Unity Government (NUG)

· In a government meeting on Tuesday, the Acting President of the NUG stated that the formation of an alliance must be the widest and the strongest as the goal has already been visible in the revolution that will lead to the downfall of the military dictatorship.

· In the 112th International Labor Conference, the representatives of the NUG, employers and workers joined the event on 10 June. Reportedly, they discussed Myanmar’s affairs.

· According to the People’s Police of the NUG, they have been investigating the procurement of condos by the daughter of the junta leader Khin Thiri Thet Mon and the families of other generals in Bangkok, Thailand.

· At 1:00 pm Tuesday, there was a meeting (11/2024) between the NUG Central Committee on the Interim Public’s Administration and Township People’s Administration from Yangon Region.

Revolution Activities

· In Yinmabin Township of Sagaing Region, a combined rally of Youth’s Strength and local farmers conducted a photo campaign against the junta’s unfair Military Service Law on Wednesday.

· In Yinmabin Township, a rally named ‘Let’s Never Get Back in This Revolution’ marched against the military dictatorship on Wednesday.

· In Yinmabin Township, a local rally of Daung Thway Ni with the Flag of Victory led a march against the military dictatorship.

· In Monywa Township, the People’s Defence Force (PDFs) attacked a camp near the junta’s Northwest Military Headquarters. Reportedly, about 20 junta soldiers died, 5 others were caught alive and 9 weapons were confiscated.

· In Sagaing Township, a junta police officer was attacked by PDFs on Tuesday while he was taking away a motorbike from Kywe Pone Village. Reportedly, he died and 2 guns were confiscated with a uniform and some bullets.

· In Chaung-U Township, there were mine attacks on a junta convoy carrying copper on Tuesday evening. Reportedly, 3 junta soldiers including a strategist died.

· In Salingyi Township, a social group donated a meal to the displaced people.

· In North Okkalapa Township of Yangon Region, local PDF conducted a mine attack on the junta’s Traffic Police Housing on Tuesday night. Reportedly, 2 junta policemen were injured.

· In Sintku Township of Mandalay Region, PDFs attacked the junta’s ration vessel on the Ayeyarwady River. Reportedly, a junta soldier died and no less than 5 others were injured.

· In Nattalin Township of Bago Region, a junta soldier, who had been gathering information about local PDFs, was caught in Le Inma Village. There was a gunfire as he had attempted to grab a gun and run away. Reportedly, he died.

· In Winemaw Township of Kachin State, the junta army fired mortars and conducted aerial bombings via drone, killing 2 civilians, injuring 7 others and destroying a church.

· In a recent report by World Bank, it was mentioned that the growth rate of Myanmar’s economy still has been significantly weak due to armed conflicts, macro business instability and restrictions on production.

· In a paper issued by Georgetown University in the U.S on 9 June, it was stated that the environment had been degraded in Myanmar due to excessive extraction of natural resources in the country since the military coup.

· The MLA Labour Group and the CDM workers in Myanmar conducted movements in support of Daw Phyo Sandar Soe, the NUG representative elected to be a member of the ILO Executive

Committee, and Daw Khine Zar Aung, the winner of the Arthur Svensson Prize for her dedication to labour affairs.

· In Tunzan of Chin State, a young man aged 15 lost his life on Monday as he stepped on a mine.

Ethnic Armed Organizations (EAOs)

· In Hopone Township of Southern Shan State, the junta’s Pa-O National Organization shot dead 2 people in Naung Paphar Ward on 15 May.

· The Arakan Army announced on Tuesday that the junta army had conducted more aerial and naval attacks on the areas of civilians under control of the AA in Rakhine State.

· In Thandwe Township of Rakhine State, the junta army conducted various forms of attacks on Hsin Kaung Village. According to the AA, 14 civilians lost their lives.

· In Tanaing Township and Winemaw Township of Kachin State, the Kachin Independence Army took control of 2 junta camps.

· On Tuesday alone, the KIA and their alliance seized 10 junta camps along the road, which is important for Sadone-Kanpitti border trade with China.

· In Kanpetlet Township of Chin State, the junta army conducted aerial bombings. According to local CDF, a displaced people lost life and 5 others were injured.

· In Falam of Chin State, Chin National Defence Force attacked the junta army in town for two consecutive days. Reportedly, 2 junta soldiers died.

· In Titain Township, the junta army blew up two local bridges, which were important for transportation and trade. Consequently, local residents might have to face difficulties.

· In Nammatu Township of Northern Shan State, the KIA dug the earth and placed sharp irons on a road section. According to Ta’ang National Liberation Army, the vehicles have been in difficulty.

The Military Council

· The junta leader Min Aung Hlaing received the credentials of Sri Lanka’s Ambassador to Myanmar and the UAE’s Ambassador to Myanmar.

· The Chinese Embassy to Myanmar announced that 6 patrol vessels donated by China had been transferred to the junta’s Police Force.

· The junta’s Minister of Industry claimed that they had been helping MSME businesses to rent land at affordable prices in industrial zones.

· According to the junta’s Correctional Department, there will be no sentence relief programme for 23 prisoners who have passed the 2024 matriculation exam. However, they will be allowed to continue their education if they wish under the support of the junta’s Ministry of Education.

· The junta’s Myanmar National Human Rights Commission announced that they hope there will be activities for the prisoners who had passed the 2024 matriculation exam to continue their education.

· On 20 June, there will be a hearing from both sides related to the bid of No. (54) Residence on University Avenue in Yangon Region.

· According to military sources, the junta army has sent hundreds of drones and 15 supervisors to military headquarters.

Summary on 13 June

· In Rakhine State, the junta armed forces have had to let go of their camps and they have had to run away. The same is true for them in Kachin State. In the near future, they might even have to lose a border trade town there.
