Spring Revolution Daily News for 14 June 2024

The National Unity Government (NUG)

· In Oatpho Township of Western Bago Region, there was a local battle between the junta army and the People’s Defence Force (PDF) at 7:30 am Wednesday.

· In Madayar Township of Mandalay Region, the combined PDFs conducted a bomb attack via drone on the junta army on Wednesday.

· The Ministry of Health-NUG stated that they had been able to build 77 hospitals, 377 clinics and 250 mobile clinics from 16 April 2021 to 16 April 2024. They have also been providing services such as operations, referrals, general healthcare and public health.

Revolution Activities

· In Kyaikmayaw Prison of Mon State, the prison authorities made an inmate climb a brick fence with a height of over 20 feet for welding without any protection. Reportedly, the prisoner fell down.

· According to CDF Hualngoram, they have been sending the prisoners of war caught in the battle to seize Tunzan in Chin State to safe places. They then will take action against them in accordance with the law.

· In Sintku Township of Mandalay Region, the junta army based in Taung-Inn Village wildly fired 120mm grenades. Reportedly, 3 people including a child aged 8 lost their lives and 4 others were injured.

· In Madayar Township of Mandalay Region, the junta army raided 2 local villages and set fire to 12 houses along with over 30 motorcycles.

· In Mingaladone Township of Yangon Region, there were casualties in the bomb attack near the housing of Htauk Gyant Police Station.

· At the International Labor Conference, the IUF called on the international community to recognize the NUG as the government as soon as possible and support the public’s fight for freedom.

· Daw Khine Zar Aung, a Myanmar labour activist, was awarded the Arthur Svensson prize in Norway.

· In Salingyi Township of Sagaing Region, a combined rally conducted an event in memory of Ko Bantgyi, a leader of local defence force, who lost his life last year.

· In Kantbalu Township and Kyunghla Township, the junta army has been forcing even women to serve in the military. Reportedly, local women have had to run away.

· In Monywa, the PDF attacked the junta’s camp of Northwest Military Headquarters. Reportedly, they were welcome by the public with Eugenia flowers.

· Due to the economic crisis in the country, phone shops, graphic design shops, minimarts, coffeeshops and companies have raised pay for their private staff. Reportedly, the military junta has sealed off such businesses.

Ethnic Armed Organizations (EAOs)

· In Kachin State, Kachin Independence Army and their alliance seized the junta camp based in Sadone Town on 11 June.

· According to a CDF leader, they will take proper care of the prisoners of war caught in Tunzan of Chin State for their survival.

· Breaking the ceasefire negotiated by China, the junta army destroyed Hsipaw-Nammatu Road by using earthmovers, according to the Ta’ang National Liberation Army.

· After the meeting between the Arakan Army and the CYLA, CYLA Youth Organization reopened the trade route to Paletwa, which had been suspended for over 20 days.

The Military Council

· The junta’s Minister of Health discussed cancer treatment in cooperation with Russia.

· The junta’s Coastal Guard Force had a meeting with ReCAAP based in Singapore to provide capacity-building training.

· The second junta leader Soe Win claimed that the Myanmar National Education Conference would be conducted from 25 to 27 June.

· The junta’s Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation stated that 1517 acres in Hakha Township of Chin State had been regarded as Yone Taung Sanctuary starting from 5 June.

· In Myawaddy of Karen State, the retail and wholesale shops have been selling limited amounts of rice to the public.

Summary on 14 June

· The military junta has printed a large sum of money. Consequently, the local currency has decreased its value, causing the high cost of living and hardships among the public. In such a situation, some businesses have raised pay for their employees. They have been arrested by the junta army. In some areas, the military junta have checked the use of VPNs and demanded money. It is likely that Myanmar will become the poorest in Southeast Asia in the near future.
