Spring Revolution Daily News for 23 April 2024

The National Unity Government (NUG)

· In the west of Loikaw Township in Karenni State, the junta army dropped 300-pound bombs via fighter jet on Konethar Village. According to Ministry of Human Rights-NUG on Monday, a family of six people, including two children, lost their lives in the incident.

· On Sunday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs-NUG stated that they are ready to join hands with Thai government to provide assistance to the displaced people in Myanmar.

· On Monday morning, the junta army conducted bomb attacks on Kampet in Tamu Township and Sawbwar Yeshin Village in Kalay Township. Reportedly, three local people lost their lives and nine others were injured.

· In Karen State, the Southern Regional People’s Defence Force destroyed some junta vehicles including armored ones from a convoy on the way to Myawaddy at the foot of Mount Dawna.

· On Saturday, there were heavy battles in Pyin Oo Lwin Township and Naungcho Township in Mandalay Region. Reportedly, the junta army conducted air strikes on the monasteries.

Revolution Activities

· In Yinmabin Township of Sagaing Region, a local rally named Shwe Ye Kyi with the Flag of Victory marched against the military dictatorship on Monday.

· In Yinmabin Township, a rally named ‘Let’s Never Get Back in This Revolution’ led an anti-junta march on Monday.

· In memory of Aung Zay who lost his life one and a half years ago, a rally of Northern Yinmabin marched against the military dictatorship.

· In Kawlin Township, there was heavy fighting between the junta army and local PDF near Tanzu Village on Sunday morning. Reportedly, the revolution forces collected eight dead bodies of the junta soldiers.

· In the north of Kalay Township in Sagaing Region and local villages in Chin State, the junta army and Pyusawti Militia set fire to people’s houses and conducted drone attacks on Sunday. Reportedly, some civilians got injured.

· In Monywa Township, there was a bomb attack via drone on the camp of Pyusawti Militia in Tawpu Village on the afternoon of 18 April. Reportedly, two junta members died.

· In Taze Township, People for People Foundation provided healthcare to the displaced people.

· In Myingyan Township of Mandalay Region, the junta army invaded Kaing Village at 9:00 am Sunday and burnt down the houses.

· On Sunday morning, there was a mine attack on a junta car on patrol for the security of Tada-U Air Force. Reportedly, four junta soldiers died.

· In Myingyan Township, PDFs attacked the camp of the junta army and Pyusawti in Kyi Village on Saturday morning. Reportedly, there were a large number of casualties among junta members and their weapons were confiscated.

· In Kachin State, the junta army arrested five people including three religious teachers in Maw Phaung Village, which is on the other side of the road from Myitkyina Air Force base, on Saturday night.

· In Kachin State, the junta army shot at a protest against no sentence relief in Myitkyina Prison. In the incident, four prisoners their lost lives, including two political prisoners; Ko Aung Naing Tun and Ko Kyaw Soe Win. Reportedly, their funerals were conducted on Sunday.

· Political Prisoners’ Network Myanmar saluted the two political prisoners who had lost lives due to the violence of the junta armed forces and the junta prison staff in Myitkyina Prison.

· In Hpapun of Karen State, the PDF took complete control of the junta’s Ka-La-Ya (19). On Monday, a video went viral on social media, in which the PDF flag had been raised there.

Ethnic Armed Organizations (EAOs)

· Cobra Column managed to destroy another armored vehicle from the junta’s Aung Zay Ya Convoy on their way to support the forces in Myawaddy on Sunday afternoon.

· In Kawkarait of Karen State, a large number of junta soldiers invaded the area on Saturday, dropping chemical bombs via drone. Reportedly, some members of the revolution forces felt nausea and temporarily withdrew from some locations of the town.

· In Hpakant Township of Kachin State, a combined force of Kachin Independence Army attacked the junta’s Sezin Camp on Saturday and Sunday. Reportedly, the junta army carried out aerial bombings for two consecutive days.

· In Sisai Township of Southern Shan State, the junta’s Pa-O National Organization set fire to the houses in Narkhite Village, including the house belonging to the family of Vice Chair and the Commander in Chief of Pa-O National Liberation Organization.

· To relieve the shock of local people due to the junta’s Military Service Law, the Chair of Restoration Council of Shan State went to the areas under their control.

The Military Council

· The second junta leader Soe Win, who had been injured in a drone attack in Mon State, allegedly recovered and he would soon resume his duty.

· In South Okkalapa Township of Yangon Region, the military junta ordered to shut down Aung Yadanar Private Clinic for keeping CDM doctors.

· On Monday morning, the junta army conducted aerial bombings on the neighborhood of No. (2) Friendship Bridge in Myawaddy Township of Karen State. Reportedly, no less than 10 local people lost their lives.

· In Hakha of Chin State, there was a mine attack on a convoy of the junta’s Ministers on 12 April. Reportedly, some Ministers were injured. On Monday, the military junta ordered the shops to close and the gathering of people to be no more than five.

· Starting from Sunday, the passing on No. (1) Friendship Bridge on Myanmar-Thai Border has been suspended.

· According to the junta’s Ministry of Labour, up to 2.8 million Myanmar workers have been sent to Thailand.

· For 2024-2025 fiscal year, the junta Ministry of Planning and Finance fixed the land prices to collect taxes in Yangon Region.

· According to the junta’s Livestock Department, over 2,200 tons of honey were exported in 2023-2024 fiscal year.

· According to the junta’s Pearl Department, they have been producing Myanmar pearls more than expected annually.
