Spring Revolution Daily News for 30 April 2024

The National Unity Government (NUG)

· In an interview with South China Morning Post on Sunday, Minister of Foreign Affairs-NUG called for an end to weapons support to the military junta killing Myanmar people.

· The Deputy Minister of Education-NUG stated that they would join hands with stakeholder organizations until the victory of the Spring Revolution for the emergence and strong establishment of a federal democracy education system.

· On 26 April, Committee Representing Pyitaungsu Hluttaw (CRPH) conducted their regular coordination meeting. Ministry of Planning, Finance and Investment-NUG presented about their activities and future plans.

· In Kanpetlet Township of Chin State, a local resident lost his life and two others were injured due to an airstrike by the junta army, according to Local Public’s Administration.

· Aung Zay Ya Column, on their way to Myawaddy, started to climb up Mount Dawna. Reportedly, a combination of revolution forces fought them.

· In Kalay Township of Sagaing Region, Local Revolution Police Force took action against two drug dealers on Sunday morning.

· In Mindat Township of Chin State, the junta army had conducted an airstrike on Wammathu Hospital killing five people. At about 2:00 pm Sunday, they did the same for the second time.

· Thanks to the support of the public, Pakkoku District People’s Defence Force (15) provided uniforms to a unit.

Revolution Activities

· In Chaung-U Township of Sagaing Region, the revolution forces conducted an attack with mortars on the junta army stationed at Mya Pale Gas Station on Monywa-Mandalay Road. Reportedly, 3 junta soldiers died and 6 others were injured.

· As a 1103-day protest, a combined rally of Salingyi and Yinmabin, in cooperation with a rally of Shwe Ye Kyi, marched against the military dictatorship on Monday.

· In Chaung-U Township, there was a mine attack on a junta convoy on Monywa-ChaungU Road at 11:40 am Sunday. Reportedly, a military truck was damaged.

· In Wetlet Township, there was a battle between the junta army and a PDF between Sintkaing Village and Tat Village on 26 April. Reportedly, a junta soldier died.

· In Hlaing Thar Yar Township of Yangon Region, there was an attack via 40mm grenades on the junta police station at about 7:30 pm Sunday.

· In Hlaing Township, there was an attack via remote mine on the junta’s metal factory, where the junta army led by a strategist officer had been stationed, at about 9:00 pm Sunday.

· For the second batch of the military service, the military junta has been collecting the list by force. Alliance of Students’ Unions Yangon reminded that the junta’s Military Service Law has been threatening the public more and more day by day.

· In Taungthar Township of Mandalay Region, there were attacks on Yonesigyi Village and a car carrying Pyusawti members on 23 April. Reportedly, a junta member died.

· In Thabaitgyin Township, there was an attack on the junta army stationed in the school of Laitgya Village on 22 April. Reportedly, 8 junta soldiers and Pyusawti members died.

· In Salin Township of Magway Region, there was a mine attack on a junta car on Kanbya-Saytoattaya Road on Saturday. Reportedly, 3 junta soldiers died.

· In Myaing Township, the dead body of a raped woman was found near No. (2) Industry on 27 April.

· In Pathein Township of Ayeyarwady Region, the PSTF and the Communication Office of the PDF conducted a protest against the military dictatorship.

· In Pulaw Township of Tanintharyi Region, there were bomb attacks via drone on the junta police station and army camp in Pala Town on Sunday evening.

· In Demoso Township of Karenni State, U Pho Zaw, a local resident, managed to clear over 100 mines set by the junta army in the area.

· In Kawkarait Township of Karen State, the junta army arrested and killed 3 people from Kawbain Village and Kaw Palaing Village. They then discarded the dead bodies on the roadside on 27 April.

· In Ahm Township of Rakhine State, a PDF member lost his life in a battle between the junta army and the revolution forces on 25 April.

· In Daegu of South Korea, there was an anti-junta movement, along with a fund-raising match of cane ball.

Ethnic Armed Organizations (EAOs)

· In Hpa-Ang District under Karen National Union Brigade (7), the junta army left a base camp in Marnepalaw Area on 23 April.

· In Thatone Township of Mon State, the junta army shot heavy weapons at about 10:00 pm on Saturday. Reportedly, a person was hit and lost his life.

· In Myitkyina Township of Kachin State, Kachin Independence Army took complete control of the junta’s Ka-La-Ya (141) in Hsinbo on Monday morning. Reportedly, a large number of junta soldiers including their commander died.

· In Myitkyina Township, the junta commander of Moemauk (437) was injured and caught alive in the battle to seize Ka-La-Ya (141) in Hsinbo. On the other hand, the junta commander of Ka-Ma-Ya (438) died in an airstrike by the junta army.

· Chinland Government warned that they would take serious action against any individuals or organizations including the military junta for bombings of the people in Mindat Township of Chin State.

· In Kutkhine under Ta’ang National Liberation Army in Northern Shan State, there was tension in terms of communication on ground between the TNLA and Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army regarding the confiscation of weapons.

The Military Council

· Starting from this year, the agreement on information security between Russia and Myanmar will come into force.

· The junta Ministry of Information has made lawsuits against those involved in the music videos of ‘Saunt Pet’ and ‘Just One Word, Love Me?’ for shameless production against Myanmar culture.

· According to the junta’s Myanmar Investment Commission, they approved of the investment worth 1.215 billion (over 40%) in the electricity sector.

· According to the junta Labour Department, the rate of unemployment in the country has gone up since 2020.

· The junta Deputy Minister of Energy said that they would make an effort to open a new LPG shop as soon as possible in 2024.

· According to the junta YRTC, they would collect a fine worth 30,000 MMK if a YBS driver is found smoking or talking on the phone while driving a bus in Yangon.

· In the 59th Gems emporium, 5,110 sets of gems would be reportedly sold.

· Starting from Monday, the military junta has conducted transportation via helicopter to their force (275) in Myawaddy in Karen State.

· To send rations to the junta’s Western Military Headquarters in Ahm of Rakhine State, the military junta has hired the public’s cars in Magway Region by force. They have asked for 6 lakh MMK from the car owners who refuse to do so.

· For the position of the Commander for the junta’s (44) Unit Headquarters, Colonel Nyi Nyi Oo, the graduate of the Defence Service Academy Intake (41), was appointed.

Summary on 30 April

· Although the military junta claimed that they had approved the most investment for electricity sector, the public have had to face terrible power outages throughout the country.

· With a great loss in battles in Kachin State, the military junta had to let go of their Ka-La-Ya (141). On the other hand, the KIA even caught the junta commanders alive.
