Spring Revolution Daily News for 1 January 2024

The National Unity Government (NUG)

· In Yetashay Township of Bago Region, the junta army set fire to the houses in Mayoekone Village at 4:30 pm on 26 December. Reportedly, they were attacked with 60mm grenades and snipers by a combined force of RV Column 1+5+6 of Taungoo District and Naypyidaw Column.

Revolution Activities

· The Ta’ang Women Organization announced that 123 civilians including women and children had lost their lives in Northern Shan State within two months of the Operation 1027, which started on 27 October.

· On Thai-Myanmar border, a long queue of people had been waiting for border passes at Myawaddy-Mae Sot Friendship No. (1) Bridge on Sunday morning to visit Mae Sot of Thailand.

· In the western part of Madayar Township in Mandalay Region, the junta army raided U-Tain Village and set fire to the public’s houses.

· In Madayar Township, there was a time bomb attack on the junta army doing a mine clearance operation on Mandalay-Moegok Road on the afternoon of 28 December. According to local PDF, 2 junta soldiers died.

· In Myaing Township of Magwe Region, local PDF provided rice to over 100 households, the fire victims from two local villages which had been burnt by the junta army.

· In Yesagyo Township and Myaing Township, local PDFs conducted attacks via drone and mortars the junta armed forces.

· In Kawkarait Township of Kayin State, there were attacks on the junta army stationed at Taung Kyar-In Police Station and the school. According to White Tiger Battalion, no less than 27 junta soldiers died.

· In Yinmabin Township, a local rally of ‘Let’s not get back in this revolution’ marched against the military dictatorship on Sunday morning.

· Mao Ning, a spokesman of Chinese Foreign Ministry, stated on Friday that they had been closely watching the battles in Lauk Kaing and they had sent their objection to Myanmar regarding the casualties among Chinese citizens. He also called on the two sides to stop fighting to ensure security and no harm to the Chinese people.

Ethnic Armed Organizations (EAOs)

· According to the Three Brotherhood Alliance on Sunday, they have not had many junta camps to fight in Lauk Kaing except for the junta’s regional supervision base to gain complete control of Kokang Area in Northern Shan State.

· In Mrauk-U of Rakhine State, the Arakan Army (AA) took control of the junta’s Myaung Bway Police Station on Saturday.

· On Saturday night, the Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army (MNDAA) urged the civilians and foreigners in Lauk Kaing to move to a safe place as soon as possible.

· In Kawkarait Township of Kayin State, Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) confiscated weapons in the battle in Taung Kyar-In Village.

· At the time of the military junta losing their camps and towns in Northern Shan State, they have been strengthening their forces by sending junta soldiers via helicopters to Muse, a key trade area on China-Myanmar border.

· The Chin Brotherhood was set up with the forces established after the military coup; Chin National Organization/ Chin National Defence Force, ZFU/PDF-Zoland and Chin National Council

(CNC-Mindat/CDF – Mindat). They released a joint statement that they would join hands in military and political affairs for Chin nationals.

The Military Council

· In Tarmway Township of Yangon Region, the 13th paying obeisance ceremony to the elderly from Myanmar Music Association was held at Sky Star Hotel at 1:00 pm Sunday. Present on the occasion was U Soe Thein, the junta’s Chief Minister of Yangon Region.

· U Myint Kyaing, the junta’s Immigration Minister, said that they had been trying for the right voter list, which is important for a general election, and that they had also been making an effort for every eligible voter to be able to cast their vote along with National Registration Card (NRC).

· In Pantanaw of Ayeyarwady Region, the junta Industrial Minister Dr. Charlie Than and the junta’s Chief Minister of Ayeyarwady Region U Tin Maung Win had a look at UK Sein Thin Phyu Mat Production.

· U Aye Kyaw, the junta’s Deputy Minister of Electricity, inspected the activities for constant power supply for the event on the 76th Independence Day.

· The junta propaganda leader Major General Zaw Min Tun falsely claimed that the media outlets had been doing to damage to the relations between China and Myanmar.

Summary on 1 January 2024

· Regarding the casualties of Chinese people in Lauk Kaing, China warned the military junta, which in turn blamed the media under the accusation of misleading China. With a fear for the dissatisfaction of China, the dictators did so. In reality, Chinese citizens have lost lives because of their air strikes and Lauk Kaing has become like a ghost town.
