Spring Revolution Daily News for 2 January 2024

The National Unity Government (NUG)

· According to the Acting President of the NUG Duwa Lashi La, over 20 towns and over 400 junta camps have been seized during the short period of Operation 1027. Additionally, more than 550 junta soldiers have given up their arms.

· The NUG has had meetings with powerful ethnic forces and they have been making an effort for Myanmar people to end the revolution with victory in 2024.

· In a joint statement by the National Unity Consultative Council (NUCC) and the NUG on New Year’s Day, they vowed that they would try their best for all Myanmar people to enjoy the year of victory in 2024.

· In Kawlin District of Sagaing Region, there was a meeting between Pinlebu Township People’s Administration and local organisations on Sunday.

· In the national speech on New Year’s Day, the Acting President called on the public to contribute to the ultimate success of the revolution in 2024.

Revolutionary Activities

· Myanmar National Political Prisoners’ Network called on the military junta to release 15 political prisoners, who have been unlawfully arrested along with children.

· In Tanintharyi Township of Tanintharyi Region, there was an attack on the junta inspection gate of Ka-Ma-Ya (561) in Nyaungbingwin Village on Sunday. In response, the junta army fired heavy weapons, damaging some people’s houses.

· In North Okkalapa Township of Yangon Region, there was a grenade attack on a house belonging to Ma Myat Sandar Khine at about 7:00 pm Sunday.

· According to No More Dictatorship People Defence Force (NMD), they attacked the compound of Mandalay Moat, where the junta mid-regional military headquarters is stationed.

· In Kyan Khine Township of Ayeyarwady Region, a local rally protested against the military dictatorship on Sunday night.

· In Taungthar Township of Mandalay Region, local PDFs shot dead two junta policemen on their way back from demanding money from the public.

· In Hlaing Thar Yar Township of Yangon Region, an alliance of revolutionary forces conducted explosion attacks on 6 junta stations.

· In Monywa of Sagaing Region, there was a bomb attack via drone on the supporting unit of the junta’s Northwest Military Headquarters. Reportedly, there were casualties in the incident.

Ethnic Armed Organisations (EAOs)

· On Sunday night, the Three Brotherhood of Northern Alliance vowed that it would fight for no more military dictatorship in 2024.

· In the west of Kutkhine in Northern Shan State, the Northern Alliance started to attack the junta’s strategic camp of Ka-La-Ya (241) in Ward (1) on Sunday morning.

· In a New Year’s Speech, the Chair of the Kachin Independence Organisation stated that the military junta has been faced with military losses and there might be significant changes in 2024.

· In Kyaukme Township of Northern Shan State, Ta’ang National Liberation Army took control of Mai Ngo Town.

The Military Council

· The junta Yangon Regional Government announced that Pyi Road would be temporarily blockaded on 2 and 4 January to celebrate the 76th Independence Day, which falls on 4 January.

· The junta leader Senior General Min Aung Hlaing said that they would make an effort for a better nation with a better economy focussing on the national and the public’s interests.

· U Khin Maung Yi, the junta’s Union Minister, met with reef/ bamboo craftspeople. Reportedly, they discussed the availability of raw materials and the convenient export of the products.

· Regarding the casualties among junta soldiers and the violence against the public, independent media outlets have investigated and published the news. The junta propaganda team and the junta propaganda media claimed such news to be false information.

· Turning a blind eye to the failed state due to his hunger for power, the junta leader claimed that they would build up a better nation for better socio-economic lives of the public.
