Spring Revolution Daily News 30 Jan

The National Unity Government (NUG)

· In memory of U Ko Ni and Ko Nay Win who were assassinated seven years ago, the NUG stated that the effort should be made to uproot the junta army.

· Under the Southern Region of Ministry of Defence- NUG, Dawna Column opened basic military training. Reportedly, it was joined by the members of the Mon State Revolutionary Force and Tanintharyi Regional PDF.

· On Monday, the Ministry of Economics and Commerce- NUG blacklisted 64 members of the Executive Committee from the Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce associated with the military junta.

· In Washington D.C in the United States, there was a meeting between the Chair of the Committee Representing the Pyitaungsu Hluttaw, Union Ministers of the NUG and the Myanmar Community at the NUG Foreign Ministry Office on Sunday.

· In Gantgaw Township of Magwe Region, Local People’s Administration has provided support to war victims in a timely manner.

Revolutionary Activities

· On Sunday, the General Strike Coordination Body announced that it would conduct a Silent Strike and White Movement in which the whole public can participate on 1 February from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm, the third anniversary of the military coup.

· In Northern Shan State, local people welcomed the Kachin Independence Army and the KPDF, which has seized junta army camps.

· In Madayar Township of Mandalay Region, a junta troop killed a civilian. They discarded his body on the roadside, accusing him of being a PDF member.

· On Sunday, the Area 71People Defense Force Monywa announced that people are not to use Monywa-Chaung U Section of the Monywa-Mandalay Road from 8:00 pm to 5:00 am.

· In Moemait of Northern Shan State, local residents have been trapped in town as the junta armed forces have blockaded their way.

· In Pyin Oo Lwin which is known as an Army Town for its military academies in Mandalay Region, the PDF raised its flag on the path around Kandawgyi Park.

Ethnic Armed Organisations (EAOs)

· Global Diversity stated that the emergence of the Interim Chin National Consultative Council and Chinland Council in Chin State has posed a threat of division among Chin people and thus, responsible personnel from both organisations should meet and negotiate as soon as possible.

· The Pa-O National Liberation Army stated that it does not want to fight the same ethnic people who serve the junta’s militia. The PNLA called on them to change from being junta servants to national liberators.

· The Southern Shan Local Revolution Union announced that it, in cooperation with the PNLA, would fight until the military junta could no longer operate in Southern Shan State and the area of the Pa-O ethnic people.

· According to the Three Brotherhood of Northern Alliance, the military junta has handed over 36,000 to 40,000 people involved in online gambling in Lauk Kaing to the responsible personnel of the Chinese government. However, they have still been protecting the leaders of gambling gangs or so-called Kyar Phyant.

· In Minbyar Township of Rakhine State, the Arakan Army gained complete control of the junta army Ka-Ma-Ya (380) on Monday. Reportedly, the military junta used chemical bombs in the attack on the town of Yanbye.

· In Thingan Nyi Naung of Myawady, a junta helicopter crashed down due to a combined force of the Karen National Liberation Army on Monday afternoon. Reportedly, 5 junta officers died.

The Military Council

· In the 4th Russia-Myanmar Economic Forum in Moscow, Russia, the junta Minister of Investment and Foreign Economic Relations said that the junta would fully protect Russian investments.

· In a meeting on 26 January, the junta leader Min Aung Hlaing said that it was necessary to have a discussion politically and seek the approval of the Parliament for self-administration and self-determination, and it was not possible to ask for them by taking up arms.

· The military junta did not attend the ASEAN Foreign Ministerial Meeting for over two years as the junta leader and the junta ministers were not allowed to be present. For the first time, the junta Ministry of Foreign Affairs sent a senior officer to the meeting.

· In Mandalay Region, 560 people watched a demonstration of the Myanmar Electronic Voting Machine.

· The junta’s delegation led by Dr. Thet Thet Khine attended the ASEAN Tourism Forum (2024), the ASEAN Tourism Ministerial Meeting and other related meetings held in Vientiane, Laos.

Summary on 30 January

· The revolution forces have been able to attack and seize the junta camps and towns on a daily basis. On Monday, they even shot down a junta helicopter.

· Despite great military losses, the junta leader keeps trying to hold onto power through the fake election and the pretense of elected government.
