Thai embassy in Yangon sets limit of 400 visa applications per day

The Royal Thai Embassy in Yangon issued a statement this week that the embassy will receive only 400 visa applications per day as the number of visa applicants increases.

The embassy will give tokens and it must be taken by the applicant in person and those found misappropriating and forging tokens will be banned from visa application and they will be put on the black list, the announcement says 14 February.

The embassy said that the tokens would be distributed starting from 8:30 am before the start of business hours.

The embassy forbids the transfer of the tokens to others, the applicant must take the token in person and it will be issued to each applicant by checking against their passports.

After the Military Council issued the notification of National Service Law that came into force on 10 February, hundreds of visa applicants queue daily at the Thai embassy in Yangon to get a visa.

Similarly, the number of applications for school admissions at Buddha University in Chiang Mai, Thailand has increased sharply and then the University announced on 14 February that they would not accept more applications.
