Spring Revolution Daily News for 4 March 2024

The National Unity Government (NUG)

· On Sunday, there was a meeting between the NUG Central Committee on the Interim Public’s Administration and Township People’s Administration Teams from Tanintharyi Region, Ayeyarwady Region and Bago Region.

· In Dawei Township of Tanintharyi Region, a combination of People’s Defence Forces attacked and seized the junta camp near Yaungmaw Village. According to Southern Military Region, many junta soldiers died and a large number of weapons were confiscated.

· In Kentucky of the United States, Myanmar’s Permanent Representative to the UN U Kyaw Moe Tun met with the ethnic people of the Spring Revolution in Louisville.

Revolution Activities

· In the southern part of Kalay Township in Sagaing Region, there was a local battle. Reportedly, there were a large number of casualties among junta soldiers.

· In Butalin, a second sergeant, along with weapons, defected to local PDF.

· The revolution forces conducted attacks on two junta places including the junta police station in Salingyi.

· In Salingyi Township, there was an event in memory of Poet Kay Za Win who lost his life three years ago.

· In Minkin Township, local people led a march against the military dictatorship on Sunday.

· In honor of Farmers’ Day, Kani Township Burmese Students’ Union marched against the military dictatorship.

· As a 1073-day protest, a combined rally of Salingyi and Yinmabin marched against the junta’s Military Service Law on Sunday.

· On Saturday and Sunday, there was a 2-day discussion in Thai Parliament to help find ways to support democracy which would resolve the current situation of Myanmar and the humanitarian crisis over the period of three years after the military coup.

· In Gumi of South Korea, there was a rally against Myanmar’s military dictatorship, along with a fund-raising event to support the revolution.

Ethnic Armed Organizations (EAOs)

· According to the Arakan Army, the military junta has recruited by force in the Muslim Community in Rakhine State, giving an excuse for the public’s military service law. In addition, they have spread religious and racial propaganda.

· In Ponnagyun of Rakhine State, the military junta has had to defend hard by using all their forces not to lose their last camp in the area, Regiment (550).

· According to the AA, some individuals and organizations in the Muslim Community have attempted to gather weapons, taking advantage of the junta’s military service law. The AA warned that it was a challenge against them.

· In Hpakant Township of Kachin State, the junta army and Shanni National Army have set fire to Tarmakhan Village. Reportedly, the public’s houses have been on fire.

· In Sisai Township and Hopone Township of Southern Shan State, the junta army conducted air strikes and fired heavy weapons into local villages without any battles, according to Pa-O National Liberation Army.

The Military Council

· Due to local battles, the military junta has mobilized a large number of their forces in the town of Kalay. Reportedly, some junta soldiers have robbed people’s houses in the wards, saying that they are PDF members.

· Despite the junta’s secret objection, there was a discussion in the Thai parliament, including the NUG, Karen National Union and the National Unity Consultative Council.

· According to the junta’s Ministry of Economics and Commerce, the application for an export license permit has been extended to 14 days from 7 days.

· The junta’s Deputy Minister of Construction instructed the toll booths on Yangon-Mandalay Highway to use CCTV and Computer Technology when collecting the fees.

· According to the junta’s Ministry of Labour, they have opened the departments to issue the CI for illegal workers in Thailand to become legal ones. Reportedly, Myanmar migrant workers are not to use middlemen and they are to do the process in person.

Summary on 4 March

· In the Thai Parliament, there was a discussion on Myanmar’s affairs. Present on the occasion were the Ministers and the responsible personnel of the NUG as well as some EAOs. It might be of some help to the revolution. It might also help to inform the international community in regards to the inhumane war crimes of the junta army against the Myanmar people.
