The Myanmar junta and its associates have burned down 83,746 houses since the February 2021 coup until the end of March 2024, according to Data for Myanmar.

In March 2024 junta forces burnt down 2,831 houses in Myanmar. Of those, 1,851 were in Sagaing Region and a further 628 were in Mandalay Region.

Also, in the final week of March 2024, junta aerial and naval bombardments destroyed over 300 houses in Dhammatha Village in Mon State.

When Data for Myanmar released these figures on 14 April it also said that they may well have underestimated the real number of houses burnt down by junta forces.
