Spring Revolution Daily News for 10 May 2024

The National Unity Government (NUG)

· On Thursday, Union Minister of Human Rights-NUG met with the MPS from the opposition Labour Party in New Zealand and held discussions on Myanmar’s affairs.

· In Thayetchaung Township of Dawei District in Tanintharyi Region, the junta’s Pedat Camp was seized and 30 weapons were confiscated along with other military items.

· In Tanintharyi Township of Tanintharyi Region, there have been local battles between the junta armed forces and People’s Defence Forces (PDFs) since 23 April.

· In Naungcho Township of Northern Shan State, the junta army has been dropping chemical poison bombs to get back Thayetgone Camp.

· In Shwebo Township of Sagaing Region, Local Strike Group and the public saluted a member of the PDF who had lost his life. They also protested against the military dictatorship.

Revolution Activities

· In Monywa Township of Sagaing Region, Area 71 PDF Monywa arrested 3 women from Tawpu Village, allegedly members of the Pyusawti Militia.

· In Thayetchaung Township of Tanintharyi Region, the junta army conducted an airstrike via fighter jet on Natsi Village on Wednesday evening. Reportedly, 2 children playing football lost lives and 8 people were injured.

· Both the military junta and revolution forces objected to the effort of former Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra to interfere in Myanmar’s affairs.

· In Latbadan Township of Bago Region, there was an attack on the junta’s gate in Kunchan Village. Reportedly, 3 junta soldiers died and 7 others were injured.

· In Myaing Township of Magway Region, the junta army burnt a PDF camp near Kan Thit Village. They also killed 2 people and took away 20 others.

· According to the United States Institute of Peace (USIP) on Thursday, the military junta and the ARSA have been recruiting Rohingya Muslims in Rakhine State for members. Reportedly, they have also been abusing them as human shields in frontline battles.

· On the border of Tanintharyi Township and Boatpyin Township of Tanintharyi Region, the revolution forces have been attacking the junta’s camp Point (1020). They also conducted a guerrilla attack on a junta’s supporting troop contingent, killing a large number of junta soldiers and confiscating weapons.

Ethnic Armed Organizations (EAOs)

· According to the spokesperson of Arakan Army, there have been recruitments of young Muslim men from the IDP camps in Bangladesh for the military junta, abusing the name of the AA.

· In Karenni State, there was a mine attack on a junta convoy on their way to the spot where their helicopter had crashed. According to the KNPLF, there were casualties among junta soldiers.

· On the 3rd anniversary of Pekone PDF, they took a security patrol at Pekone Lake; the liberated area, and they conducted a gathering of the members.

· In Mancy Township of Kachin State, the revolution forces led by the Kachin Independence Army attacked and seized the frontline camp of the junta’s Ka-La-Ya (601) on Thursday morning.

The Military Council

· The military junta turned down the request of former Prime Minister of Cambodia to have a meeting with the democratic leader Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, who has been in detention since the coup in 2021.

· In Winemaw Township of Kachin State, the junta army blew up Kazu-Dabat Bridge on Myitkyina-Bamaw Road on Wednesday.

· According to the junta’s Ministry of Economics and Commerce, 606 rice warehouses have been officially registered within 6 months.

· On Wednesday, there were surprise checks to the fuel stations in Naypyidaw, Yangon and Mandalay.

· Regarding the sale of fuel oil and gun powder in Hpakant and the areas with the EAOs, General Win Lwin and General Zaw Lwin Oo, the officers from the junta’s Military Department, have been interrogated in Naypyidaw.

Summary on 10 May

· In Kachin and Rakhine, there have been heavy battles due to the effort of the revolution forces to seize towns. The same is true for Tanintharyi Region. To counter attack the offensive of the revolution forces, the junta army has had to use their forces on land, on air and in water.
