Spring Revolution Daily News for 23 May 2024

The National Unity Government (NUG)

· In Canada, Union Minister of Human Rights-NUG met with the Myanmar community at (University of Toronto) Bahen Center on Tuesday.

· To raise funds for the Special Operation Group in Area (3) of Southern Military Region under Ministry of Defence-NUG, a music album named “The Warrior’s Rhythms” will be released in June.

· On the Kasone Full Moon Day, the NUG released a statement, mentioning that the Spring Revolution will surely succeed due to the unity of the public.

Revolution Activities

· The spokesperson of the US Foreign Department stated that the United States has been deeply concerned about the situation in Rakhine State and they would slap sanctions on the military and the armed forces committing violence, in order to provide justice for the victims.

· The Arakan Army announced that they have not been unlawfully killing or arresting to Rohingya people. On the other hand, there have been claims that some members of the AA have been accused of committing such crimes. Regarding it, 194 civil and revolution organizations called for an investigation.

· On 19 May, the Foreign Minister of Bangladesh Hasan Mahmud stated that the issue of Rohingya repatriation could be resolved only with the involvement of China and India.

· Somewhere in Kalay of Sagaing Region, a combined rally marched against the military dictatorship on Kasone Full Moon Day.

· In Yinmabin North, a local rally named ‘Let’s Never Get Back in This Revolution’ led a march against the military dictatorship on Wednesday.

· In Chaung-U, there was an attack on the junta army stationed in the fire brigade station. According to Brave Heart Army, 2 junta soldiers died and 2 guns were confiscated along with some other weapons.

· In Dawei Township of Tanintharyi Region, there was an attack on the junta’s Phayame Inspection Gate in Maungme Shaung Village. Reportedly, 2 junta soldiers died. Again, there was a mine attack on a junta troops on their way to collect the dead bodies. Reportedly, 2 more soldiers died.

· Justice for Myanmar identified illegal Kyar Phyant online gambling gangs and casino companies in which some leaders of the BGF/ KNA under the military junta including Colonel Saw Chit Thu (alias) San Myint have been involved. They also called on the international community to immediately take action.

· In Tilin Township of Magway Region, local revolution forces announced on Tuesday that going into Yemyetni Village had been banned for security reasons.

· Rangoon UG Column – RUC was set up to conduct battles to seize Yangon. Reportedly, they will soon get started with fighting.

· In Myeik Township and Tanintharyi Township of Tanintharyi Region, there was a mine attack on a junta convoy of rations with full security. Regarding it, the junta army beat and arrested 6 local people including a woman.

· According to the French Embassy, Thailand and France agreed to supporting the political efforts to end Myanmar crisis.

Ethnic Armed Organizations (EAOs)

· In Kachin State, a combined force of Kachin Independence Army managed to seize the junta’s Ka-La-Ya (321) Shwe Nyaung Bin Camp on the way out of Winemaw on Tuesday night.

The Military Council

· According to the junta propaganda team, the Steering Committee on Ayeyarwady Myitsone Hydro-Power Project was set up to conduct research, seek technical solutions and manage public relations.

· The junta leader Senior General Min Aung Hlaing told the training students of the air force and the navy that it is necessary to strongly control the air and water territories to protect the sovereignty of the country.

· According to the military junta, a bridge was blown up on Bago-Mawlamyein Railroad between Thein Seik and Done Wun Stations of Thatone Township, causing train delays.

· On Wednesday, the advisor of National Security and Minister of the State Administration Council Chair Office (1) Major General Moe Aung received a delegation led by Indian Ambassador to Myanmar H.E. Mr. Abhay Thakur in Naypyidaw.

Summary on 23 May

· With a great loss in Rakhine State, the military junta has been stimulating racial conflicts and making the situation complicated in sensitive areas. Therefore, the Arakan Army (AA) needs to handle it carefully.
