Major-General Ko Lay

Major-General Ko Lay has been appointed as the new Deputy Defence Minister by the junta, replacing Major-General Aung Lin Tun who was connected to online fraud.
Major-General Aung Lin Tun was arrested in March 2024 and investigated for alleged connections to online fraud businesses. There is speculation that he was sentenced to prison in March, but the junta has issued no statements about his fate. He had served as Deputy Defence Minister since May 2021.
Major General Ko Lay, previously served as the Deputy Chief of Armed Forces Training. He received the Zeya Kyaw Htin title for outstanding military performance in January 2021, during the tenure of the NLD government.
