Spring Revolution Daily News for 24 April 2024

The National Unity Government (NUG)

· On Monday, Myaing People’s Defence Force (PDF) announced that they had attacked the junta armed forces in accordance with the guidance of the Acting President of the NUG. Reportedly, 5 junta policemen died and 6 others, along with weapons, were caught.

· On Monday morning, the PDF attacked the junta army unit and gate in Paungtale of Pyi Township in Bago Region. Reportedly, a junta soldier died.

· In Pyi Township of Bago Region, Win Kyaing, the junta administrator of Shwe Myaung Village who had been recruiting for the junta army, was shot dead on Tuesday morning.

· In Magway Region, Pakkoku Township PDF Unit (3) conducted an event on completion of their basic military training.

· On Monday morning, there was a meeting between Ministry of Home Affairs and Immigration- NUG and Township People’s Administration Teams from Sagaing Region, Magway Region and Mandalay Region.

· On Monday afternoon, there was a meeting between the NUG Central Committee on the Interim Public’s Administration and Township People’s Administration from Sagaing Region.

Revolution Activities

· In Yinmabin North of Sagaing Region, a rally named ‘Let’s Never Get Back in This Revolution’ marched against the military dictatorship on Tuesday.

· In Kalay, Wings of Kalay conducted bomb attacks via drone on the two junta stations in town.

· In Salingyi Township, a social group, on behalf of donors, fed vermicelli soup to more than 400 displaced people.

· On Monday morning, the PDFs attacked the junta army on their way from Butalin to Nyaungbinkan Village for mine clearance operation. Reportedly, 12 junta soldiers got injured and 5 of them were in critical condition.

· In Monywa Township, there was a mine attack on a junta vehicle on Monywa-ChaungU Road on Monday night. Reportedly, the car was damaged and no less than 5 junta soldiers might have died.

· In Shwebo Township, there was a mine attack on a convoy of junta soldiers and Pyusawti members on Sunday. Reportedly, 2 junta members died and 7 others were injured.

· In Thabaitgyin Township of Mandalay Region, the junta administrator of Lait Kya Village was shot dead. Afterwards, the junta army arrested people and set fire to houses.

· In Pauk Township of Magway Region, there was an attack on a junta troop contingent. After that, the junta army conducted aerial bombing on Falamkaing Police Station and Kyaut Tie Khin Village on Tuesday afternoon. Reportedly, there were casualties among the public and the houses were damaged.

· In Pauk Township, there was a guerrilla attack on the junta members who had run away from Falam Kaing Oil Field Police Station on Sunday. Reportedly, 3 junta soldiers died and 3 others were caught alive.

· In Ywar Ngan Township of Southern Shan State, there was an attack on the junta police station in Myingyadoe Village on Sunday morning. Reportedly, 3 junta members died and another one was caught alive.

· Due to a temporary stop in battles in Myawaddy, about 2,000 local people, who had had to run to Thailand for refuge recently, returned home on Monday.

Ethnic Armed Organizations (EAOs)

· In Karen State, there was a guerrilla attack on junta supporting troops on their way to Myawaddy on Sunday. According to Karen National Union (Central), 6 junta soldiers died and an armored vehicle, along with two military trucks and weapons, was confiscated.

· The Chief Minister of Chin State said that it is necessary to make an effort collectively for the strong operation of Chin State Government comprising Chin National Front, local defence forces and Chin State MPs.

· In Namsam Township of Ta’ang State under the PSLF Brigade (2), the Political Science Academy opened their Batch (2) on 20 April.

· The administration Committee of Special Region (1) under Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army announced on Monday that private hospitals would no longer be allowed to open in the area.

The Military Council

· In a meeting on Monday, the junta leader Senior General Min Aung Hlaing said that regarding education, the responsible personnel were to plan for the long term.

· The second junta leader Soe Win, who had recovered from injury afflicted in a drone attack on the junta’s Southeast Military Headquarters in Mon State, was absent from the meeting on Monday.

· According to the military sources, it was allegedly said that Brigadier General Kyaw Swar Linn, a close confidant of the junta leader, would be appointed as the Second Commander in Chief of the Defence Services.

· On Monday night, the military junta announced that they had allowed the Vice President of the NLD Government Henry Van Thio to quit for health reasons.

· The junta Central Bank of Myanmar would sell 14 million Baht via an Online Trading Platform on Tuesday.

· After Thingyan, the military junta has raised the momentum of recruitment for military service in Yangon.

· According to the junta Ministry of Labor, they would supervise more for regular salary transfers of Myanmar workers abroad.

· For the military training Batch (2), the military junta has done the recruitment by force throughout the country by arresting the youth.

· In Yetashay Township of Bago Region, a widowed father aged 30 in Kyungdawgone Village was taken away by the junta army for military service. Reportedly, his son aged 5 was left alone at home.

· In Kyauk Phyu Township of Southern Rakhine State, the junta navy shot mortars in Dwaycha Village on Sunday afternoon. Reportedly, 28 houses were burnt down.

· In Sittway Township of Rakhine State, 4 civilians including women lost their lives and 4 others were seriously injured on Saturday and Sunday as they stepped on mines set by the junta army.

· In Moemauk of Kachin State, the junta army conducted aerial bombing on the wards in town from the morning to the afternoon on Monday. Reportedly, four local people lost their lives.

· The spokesperson of Thai Foreign Ministry stated that they had a plan to negotiate with all the armed forces if Myanmar makes a request.

· With a great loss in the battles throughout the country, the military junta has had to let go of areas. In addition, the junta leader has taken action against those allegedly planning to assassinate him. It was also said that the second junta leader Soe Win would be replaced.
