Spring Revolution Daily News for 26 April 2024

The National Unity Government (NUG)

· Dr. Zaw Wai Soe, Minister of Health and Education-NUG, attended the World Health Summit in Melbourne of Australia from 22 to 24 April.

· Ministry of Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Risks Management-NUG announced that they had provided support to the displaced people and the injured ones in Southern Shan State.

· In Demoso Township of Karenni State, DMO People’s Defence Force (PDF) equipped their new members with arms with the funds earned from Victory Land Project.

· In North Okkalapa Township of Yangon Region, there was a time bomb attack on Shwe Paukkan Police Station on Wednesday evening. Reportedly, two junta policemen were seriously injured.

Revolution Activities

· In Yinmabin Township of Sagaing Region, a local rally named Shwe Ye Kyi with the Flag of Victory led a protest against the junta’s Military Service Law.

· In Sagaing Township, the junta’s Tada-U Air Force dropped two 500-pound bombs on Indie Village at about 5:00 am Thursday. Reportedly, a PDF member lost his life.

· In Chaung-U Township, the junta army arrested a local man and set fire to 10 houses in Khin Mon Village on Wednesday.

· In Monywa Township, there was an attack via heavy weapons on the junta’s Northwest Military Headquarters on Wednesday night. Reportedly, a large number of junta soldiers might have died.

· The Education Committee of Myaung Youth Network provided capacity-building training on basic concepts of education to 89 volunteer teachers of the interim schools.

· In Natoegyi Township of Mandalay Region, there was an attack on the cars of junta soldiers and police on their way out of Wetlu Police Station on Wednesday morning. As the junta members were injured and ran away, their two cars were burnt.

· In Gantgaw Township of Magway Region, Yaw PDF met with the displaced people and encouraged them.

· In Yenangyaung, the junta army arrested 10 young people by force at Pin Phaya Crossroads for military service.

· In Pyi Township of Bago Region and Kunchangone Township of Yangon Region, a junta administrator and a junta hundred-household leader, who had been recruiting people by force for the junta army, were shot dead on 22 April.

· In Kyaik Mayaw Township of Mon State, the junta army stationed in Kaw Thet Village shot dead a young person who had returned home and took away the public’s belongings.

· In Karenni State, Karenni Humanitarian Team –KHT, on behalf of donors, provided a meal to the households at an IDP camp.

· In Pekone Township of Southern Shan State, Karenni Humanitarian Team–KHT, on behalf of donors, provided potatoes and groceries to 89 displaced households.

· In Myitkyina of Kachin State, another man lost his life as a consequence of the junta’s crack down on the prison protest. According to Political Prisoners’ Network Myanmar, a total of five prisoners have lost their lives so far as a result of this incident.

· After heavy battles in Myawaddy, the Thai Government set up a special committee on 23 April to closely watch the situation on Thai-Myanmar border.

· According to the Thai Foreign Ministry, the Thai Government proposed to Laos, the rotating Chair of the ASEAN, to meet with key members of ASEAN to help resolve the conflict in Myanmar.

Ethnic Armed Organizations (EAOs)

· On Wednesday, the spokesperson of Arakan Army (AA) stated that they had nothing to do with the arrest and murder of five Rohingya people in Maungtaw Township of Rakhine State.

· In response to the message of the UN Human Rights Commissioner, the spokesperson of the AA stated that the ULA/AA would not discriminate against anyone in Arakan Area regardless of racial or religious background, and they would protect them.

· According to CDF Mindat, they have had 252 battles against the junta army and they have gained control of 80% of the township over the period of three years of the revolution in Chin State.

· To commemorate their third anniversary of the revolution, CDF Mindat conducted an event on Wednesday.

· In Dawei Township of Tanintharyi Region, a combined force of Karen National Liberation Army attacked the junta’s Mawta Camp near Thai-Myanmar border on Tuesday. According to the Karen National Union, the junta soldiers ran over the border into Thailand.

· In Thatone Township of Mon State and Hpa-Ang Township of Karen State, the junta army conducted attacks via heavy weapons on local villages on 22 April. Reportedly, three people including a child were injured and the public’s houses, along with monasteries, were damaged.

· In Kawthoolei Administrative Area of the KNU, the junta army fired mortars and conducted air attacks in Ledo Township. Reportedly, two civilians lost their lives.

· New Mon State Party (Against Dictatorship) and Mon State Federal Council agreed to cooperation in political, military, social and other sectors.

· Pa-O National Liberation Army (PNLO/PNLA) and Ta’ang National Liberation Army (PSLF/TNLA) sent a statement that they would join hands with Shan State Progressive Party/ Shan State Army in the fight.

· In Lauk Kaing of Northern Shan State, Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army sentenced a total of 10 people to death penalty and for prison terms including their own members on Wednesday.

The Military Council

· The junta leader Min Aung Hlaing received Cambodian Ambassador to Myanmar H.E. Mr. Chum Angvichet, who had completed his duty, in Naypyidaw on Wednesday.

· There was a meeting between the junta Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cambodian Ambassador on Wednesday. Reportedly, they discussed trade, investment, culture and tourism between the two countries.

· As U Aung San Oo was absent for the case of the bid to No. (54) Residence on University Avenue in Yangon, the next bidding process will take place on 15 May.

· Yangon Regional Investment Commission approved of five new investments.

· According to the junta Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation, they would implement export zones in three regions, depending on the types of rice demanded by overseas markets.

· According to the junta Ministry of Agriculture, Russia made an offer to purchase Macadamia products of Myanmar in 2024.

· According to the junta Mandalay Regional Government, they have been setting up a pagoda digital directory at 17 pagodas in the city.

· According to the junta Myanmar Examination Department, the certificates and transcripts of basic education high schools can be withdrawn for 2023 and the previous years.

· Yangon University of Foreign Languages will run its first course of EPS-TOPIK Korean Language.
