Spring Revolution Daily News for 10 December 2023

The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • In cooperation with the Interim Chin National Consultative Council, Ministry of Women, Youth and Children’s Affairs-NUG conducted an event themed ‘Let’s protect the women and girls’ for the elimination of violence against women.
  • On 6 December, there was a meeting via video conferencing between the Interim Chin National Consultative Council and the National Unity Consultative Council.
  • On behalf of Myanmar people, Acting President of the NUG Duwa Lashi La sent a statement to the 28th Conference of the Parties of the United Nations Framework Convention on the Climate Change (UNFCCC) (COP 28) held in United Arab Emirates (UAE).
  • At 1:00 pm Friday, there was a meeting between the NUG Central Committee on the Interim Public Administration and Township People’s Administration Teams from Sagaing Region.
  • On Friday, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation-NUG announced that they had blacklisted the gems business people in support of the military junta.
  • In commemoration of the 75th International Human Rights Day, Union Minister of Human Rights-NUG U Aung Myo Min sent the commitment of the NUG for human rights to the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights.

Revolution Activities

  • In Myeik Township of Tanintharyi Region, a sergeant clerk from the junta army (918) defected to Black Leopard Column of the Southern Region PDF.
  • In Bago Region, some family members of the junta army died in Mone Battle due to the junta’s air strike. According to Special Commando Force, they happened to find a child crying for its mother who lost her life with a baby between her arms.
  • In Mahlaing of Mandalay Region, a combined force of local PDFs conducted simultaneous attacks on four governmental departments where the junta armed forces had been stationing. Reportedly, there were casualties.
  • In Monywa Town of Sagaing Region, a former junta sergeant was shot dead on his way back after the procurement of rations for the junta army. Additionally, two junta female soldiers were arrested.
  • As a 989-day protest, a combined rally of local villages from Salingyi and Yinmabin expressed their objection to the military dictatorship.
  • In Kani Township, a doctor from local public hospital, along with an ambulance, defected to People’s Embrace.
  • In Kamaukgyi Township of Tanintharyi Region, there was a battle near Fawthoat Village. Reportedly, 8 junta soldiers died and a gun was confiscated.
  • On Friday morning, some members of Dawei District Democratic Movement Strike Committee conducted an anti-junta campaign in front of the townhall and the hospital, hanging a banner – ‘Leave the fascist army and join the people’s embrace’.

Ethnic Armed Organizations (EAOs)

  • In Nyaunglebin District of Kawthoolei Administrative Area under Karen National Union (KNU), the junta army fired heavy weapons into local villages, killing civilians.
  • In Mantone Township of Northern Shan State, the Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) seized the junta’s Komone Camp. They also confiscated a large number of weapons.

The Military Council

  • The fuel oil import companies announced that the petrol stations in the countryside would have to make the payment according to the current dollar price, in addition to the fixed rate by the military junta.
  • The military junta declared that they would take legal action against the filling stations in Yangon that fail to sell fuel oil despite having the product in stock in warehouses.
  • The Petroleum Products Regulatory Department announced that starting from 10 December, they would collect a fine worth of 50 lakh MMK or give a sentence of one year in prison against the storage or transportation of more than 50 gallons of petroleum products without license.
  • The junta’s spokesman Major General Zaw Min Tun said that they had deep discussion with China to end the armed conflicts in the country.
  • The junta leader Senior General Min Aung Hlaing said that a leader must have good ethics and he or she must be fair, and only then, his or her actions would be successful.

Summary on 10 December

  • It seems as if the junta leader uttered words as if learning like a parrot. Nevertheless, his actions have highlighted that he is not as good as his words.
  • The junta army conducted air strikes even on the family members of junta soldiers, arrested by the revolution forces. Among the fatalities were a mother of a baby. In other words, the military junta has killed the grassroots level of their forces, using them as stepping stones.
