Spring Revolution Daily News 7 March

The National Unity Government (NUG)

· A man, who had been recruited for the junta army via an application for a fake job vacancy, defected to Mandalay People’s Defence Force (Mdy PDF).

· In Kawlin Township, there were local battles in Kanthar Village between the PDF and a troop of 120 junta soldiers for three consecutive days. Reportedly, at least three junta members died and the military tension continues.

· According to Ministry of Defence-NUG, Burma Liberation Democratic Front-BLDF will follow the Chain of Command of the NUG, and they will also carry out activities in accordance with military projects.

· Acting President of the NUG Duwa Lashi La called for collective effort to access the victory of ethnic liberation with a great momentum during the Spring Revolution.

Revolution Activities

· In Sagaing Region, the revolution forces shot long-range rockets into the junta’s Northwest Military Headquarters based in Monywa.

· The junta army dropped 500-pound bombs via aerial attacks on Ward (3) of Kani Town and Mingone Village. Reportedly, a local person lost their life, two others were injured and eight houses were burnt down.

· Xanana Gusmao, the Prime Minister of Timor-Leste, called for no recognition or no invitation to the Myanmar military junta committing war crimes openly and doing violence against the public.

· On 1 March, Justice for Myanmar announced that the ASEAN’s appointment of the military junta to coordinate the relations between Russia and the ASEAN would worsen Myanmar’s crisis.

· In Taze Township of Sagaing Region, there was an attack on the junta’s Warthawa Pyusawti Troop on their way back to Kantbalu Township. According to People’s Liberation Front, two junta members died.

· In Yinmabin Township, a rally named ‘Let’s Never Get Back in This Revolution’ marched against the military dictatorship on Wednesday.

Ethnic Armed Organizations (EAOs)

· On Wednesday, Palaung State Liberation Front/ Ta’ang National Liberation Army announced that they had withdrawn the curfew in the seven towns under their control as local administration improved.

· The Interim Executive Council of Karenni State (IEC) sentenced prison terms and fines to five government employees including the Rector and the Deputy Rector of Loikaw University.

· In Pa-O Area of Southern Shan State, the junta army has conducted attacks via heavy weapons and drones without any local battles. According to Pa-O National Liberation Army, the junta soldiers carried out about 100 drone attacks on the town of Sisai on Tuesday.

· The Arakan Army (AA) stated that even some high-ranking officials of the junta army including regional commanders died in the battle to seize the junta’s Regiment (550) in Ponnagyun.

· The military junta declared martial law on the three townships under the control of the Three Brotherhood of Northern Alliance in Northern Shan State. The Alliance stated that it would pose difficulties to the ceasefire agreement and it would also be a threatening act to the public.

The Military Council

· In Myeik Township of Tanintharyi Region, the junta administrators have been collecting money from local villages and wards for the monthly fees to the junta’s Pyusawti Militia.

· According to ISP Myanmar, the military junta has appointed, dismissed and replaced 152 senior officials over the period of the military coup for more than three years.

· In Pa-O Self-Administered Region of Southern Shan State, the junta army has invaded the town of Sisai. Reportedly, they shot heavy weapons more than forty times.

· Major General Mya Tun Oo, the Chair of the junta’s Central Trade Committee, claimed that there would be legal action against the companies which fail to pay the export income within the specified period.

· According to the junta’s Minister of Transportation and Communication, they have introduced software in over 300 fuel shops in Yangon and Mandalay, which can show the amount of fuel left and their prices, starting from this month.

· The junta’s Union Election Commission released the amendment of the Political Parties Registration By-Law.

Summary on 7 March

· With reliance on China, the military junta declared martial law on the towns and areas seized by the Alliance, ignoring the ceasefire agreement. The Northern Alliance viewed it as an act or threat to the public. They might lose trust in the military junta and the fighting might break out anytime.
