Spring Revolution Daily News for 13 March 2024

The National Unity Government (NUG)

· In a government meeting on Tuesday, Acting President of the NUG stated that it is not possible to give the military junta a rest and it is necessary to keep fighting until the military result comes out.

· According to No. (1) Military Region of Ministry of Defence-NUG, three junta soldiers died and weapons were confiscated in the battle in Kantharyar Village of Northern Kalay Township in Sagaing Region.

· At 10:00 am Monday, there was a meeting between Ministry of Home Affairs and Immigration- NUG and Township People’s Administration from Sagaing Region and Magway Region.

· At 3:00 pm Monday, there was a meeting between the NUG Central Committee on the Interim Public’s Administration and Township People’s Administration from Sagaing Region.

· Local People’s Administration announced that all the groups collecting tax and money on the road sections in Sagaing District are to withdraw their activities by 16 March at the latest.

Revolution Activities

· On Tuesday dawn, a combined rally of Youth Strength, Salingyi-Yinmabin and Women’s Alliance Body marched against the military dictatorship.

· In Yinmabin Township, a local rally named ‘Let’s Never Get Back in This Revolution’ marched against the military dictatorship on Tuesday.

· On Monday morning, there was a mine attack on the junta army near Mount Lenyin. Reportedly, four junta soldiers died.

· In Chaung-U, there were bomb attacks via drone on the junta’s administration department and the junta police station. Reportedly, an administrative supervisor and two junta members died.

· On entrance to Ye-U, No. (14) Shwebo District PDF carried out a bomb attack via drone on the junta’s Shwe Kyi Min Inspection Gate on 9 March.

· In Sagaing Township, the revolution forces caught three junta soldiers including a captain alive in Ohndaw Village on their way out shopping.

· In Monywa Township, a troop of 65 junta soldiers set fire to public’s houses on Monday on their way out from Kyipadone Village. At that time, they faced a guerrilla attack by the PDFs. Reportedly, there might have been a large number of casualties among junta soldiers.

· In Myaung Township, an alliance of PDFs dropped five air bombs via Fixed Wings (drone with the use of “Shar Htoo WAW” Technology) on the junta’s Kyaukyit Police Station from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm on 10 March.

· In the south of Kalay Township, the junta army arrested and killed a local resident. Additionally, 14 houses were burnt to ashes due to their mortars and air strikes.

· On the way out of Myingyan in Mandalay Region, there was an attack on a junta vehicle at about 11:00 am Monday. Reportedly, six junta soldiers died and weapons were confiscated.

· In Pakkoku Township of Magway Region, there was a bomb attack via drone on Kamma Police Station on Monday evening. Reportedly, two junta soldiers died.

· In Pakkoku Township and Myaing Township, there were bomb attacks via drone and mine attacks on the junta’s police stations, local villages of Pyusawti Militia and the junta troops on the night of 8 March. Reportedly, a policeman died and many junta members were injured.

· In Tandabin Township of Bago Region, there has been fighting in three local villages. Reportedly, nearly 200 local people have had to run to the town of Zayatgyi for refuge.

· In Bamaw Township of Kachin State, the junta army fired heavy weapons into Kaungsint Village on Monday night. Reportedly, a man named U Htay Saung lost his life and his daughter was injured.

· In Phasaung Township and Bawlake Township of Karenni State, five junta policemen, along with weapons, joined the Civil Disobedience Movement.

· General Strike Coordination Body called on the public to take part in the petition campaign against the junta’s recruitment for soldiers by force through the Military Service Law.

Ethnic Armed Organizations (EAOs)

· The Arakan Army (AA) stated on Monday night that they had gained complete control of the whole town of Yanbye in Rakhine State.

· In the south of Myawaddy Township in Karen State, a combined force of Karen National Liberation Army attacked and took control of the junta’s Falu Camp on Thai-Myanmar border on Monday evening.

· In Myawaddy Township, the junta army conducted heavy fighting via air in Thingan Nyinaung.

· In Karen State, Cobra Column under the KNLA showed some of their shoulder weapons to shoot at the military planes.

· According to Pa-O National Liberation Army, many houses were on fire due to the junta’s heavy weapons and air attacks in Sisai Township and Hopone Township of Southern Shan State.

· In Hpasaung Township of Karenni State, the KNPLF confiscated 17 guns and other weapons from the junta army.

· In Hpakant Township of Kachin State, Kachin Independence Army took control of the junta’s Kathaing Taung Camp on Monday evening. Reportedly, a junta colonel named Thet Paing Tun, who had run from Tarmakhan Camp, died there.

· In Winemaw Township of Kachin State, the KIA shot down a MI35 helicopter of the junta army on Monday evening.

· In Winemaw Township of Kachin State, there was heavy fighting as a large number of the junta armed forces conducted an offensive to get back Inlonekha Camp of the junta’s Shwe Min Militia. Reportedly, the KIA had to withdraw on Monday evening.

· In Winemaw Township, more than 1,000 people, who have been trapped in local battles between the KIA and the junta army, have run out of food and drinking water. They have had to try hard to get out of there.

· Within nine days, two junta policemen, along with weapons, defected to Chinland Defence Force- Hakha.

The Military Council

· On Tuesday, the second junta leader Soe Win said that Ministries must be thrifty with their budget beneficially and effectively.

· According to the junta’s Central Bank on Monday, they conducted surprise checks to money exchangers in Yangon and revoked the license of four service providers for three months.

· The junta Ministry of Economics and Commerce stated that the export of farm products had earned 3.28 billion USD.

· On Monday, about 200 members of the junta’s Border Guard Police on duty in Rakhine State went to Bangladesh for refuge.

· In Sittway Township of Rakhine State, a mortar fell near No. (7) High School in Pardalait Village on Monday afternoon. Reportedly, a male student and a female student were injured on their way out after the exam.

· In some townships of Yangon Region, the military junta has been collecting a list of young people for military service.

Summary on 13 March

· With a great loss in Rakhine State, the military junta had to let go of another town. In addition, their members ran away to Bangladesh. The AA has been approaching Sittway, the capital of Rakhine State. Moreover, there have been local battles in the neighborhood of Anh, the junta’s headquarters in the area. Consequently, the whole Rakhine State might be in the hand of the AA soon.

· In Karen State, Cobra Column showed some weapons to shoot at the planes. It might be another concern for the military junta for their helicopters and fighter jets.
