Combined forces under the command of the Karen National Union (KNU) attacked and took control of the junta’s Yay Kan Kone military outpost in Lay Kay Kaw Myothit Town, in Myawaddy Township, Karen State.

According to reports by the Federal Wings Drone Force, the town was taken on 31 March. On 1 April, they released aerial photos showing the capture of the strategic Yay Kan Kone outpost near Lay Kay Kaw Myothit Town and the Thai border.

The Yay Kan Kone outpost was manned by about 20 junta soldiers, but most of them fled during the fighting, according to frontline sources.

The whereabouts of the soldiers who fled are unknown. They possibly fled to junta army’s Swaltaw Strategic Hill Camp, their largest camp in the area.

Since the KNU took over Lay Kay Kaw Myothit Town the junta has launched daily airstrikes on the town, according to frontline sources.

Fierce fighting between The KNU supported by people’s defence forces (PDFs) and the junta army is ongoing in Myawaddy and Kawkareik townships, both of which are in the KNU Brigade 6 area.
