Spring Revolution Daily News for 5 April 2024

The National Unity Government (NUG)

· According to the Military Headquarters of People’s Defence Force under Ministry of Defence- NUG, there were simultaneous attacks via drone on Naypyitaw, where the junta’s Military Headquarters is situated, and Alar Air Force. Reportedly, there were casualties in the incidents.

· In Pale Township, a social group donated 100 dozen exercise books and other teaching aid to a school of the NUG.

· In Monywa Township of Sagaing Region, 22 revolution forces conducted simultaneous attacks on Tawpu Village and Nyaung Phyubin Police Station, where the junta armed forces have been stationing.

· Union Prime Minister of the NUG Man Win Khine Than stated that only with the burning desire to uproot the military dictatorship and build a federal democracy, the people have been able to overcome any challenges until now.

· In Tanintharyi Township of Tanintharyi Region, Myeik District PDF (1) attacked the junta’s Ka-Ma-Ya (561) and Nyaungbingwin Village on Tuesday.

· From 4 to 6 April, National Unity Consultative Council are conducting the 2nd People’s Conference. There, the reports of the NUCC’s coordination committees and the reports of the NUG’s ministries are being presented and adopted.

· On Tuesday, there was a meeting between the NUG Central Committee on the Interim Public Administration-NUG and Township People’s Administration from Yangon Region.

· Myanmar’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations U Kyaw Moe Tun stated that the only way to stop the junta’s inhumane activities is to completely ban the sale and import of weapons to the military junta.

· According to Ministry of Defence-NUG, the offensive would be conducted step by step in accordance with the movement of ‘All the Roads to Naypyitaw’ and the technical battles would be constantly carried out.

Revolution Activities

· The revolution forces in Mon State and Tanintharyi Region announced on Wednesday that despite the ban of travel from Southern Yay to Thayetchaung Township of Tanintharyi Region in the nighttime, the people are allowed to go for emergency reasons.

· In New York, United States, Myanmar’s affairs will be discussed at the United Nations Security Council and it will be the second time to do so since the military coup more than three years ago.

· After the kamikaze drone attacks at Naypyitaw Airport on Thursday morning, the security was tightened on all routes into and out of the airport.

· In a report by UNICEF, the number of those who lost their lives in Myanmar due to landmines in 2023 increased about three times compared with that in 2022, and Myanmar is also included in the nations with the most risk from landmines and other explosive devices.

· In most townships with the attacks by the revolution forces in Karen State, the military junta has been arranging to tighten security in Hpa-Ang, the capital of Karen State.

· In Pauk Township of Magway Region, there was an attack on the junta’s weapon factory (24). Reportedly, some factory buildings were burnt and destroyed.

· In Madayar Township of Mandalay Region, the junta army set fire to four local villages. Reportedly, over 150 houses were burnt to ashes. In addition, a civilian, who had tried to put out the fire, was killed.

Ethnic Armed Organizations (EAOs)

· In Rakhine State, the Arakan Army has been raising the momentum of their offensive to gain complete control of the junta camps in Buthitaung, Maungtaw and Myaybone.

· After taking a position in Lweje, a town on the China-Myanmar border, the Kachin Independence Organization-Kachin Independence Army started their administration.

The Military Council

· According to the junta propaganda media, the air defence unit shot down four drones from the east of Naypyitaw Airport at 10:30 am Thursday. They also did the same to three drones from the southeast of Zayyar Thiri Township.

· In Taunggoke of Rakhine State, the junta army has been chasing after the Chief Police Officer of Myoma Police Station, who had run away.

· From 15 to 19 March, the military junta cleared all the stalls in the eastern gate of Shwedagon Pagoda.

· According to the junta’s Information Ministry, legal action will be taken against all of those involved in music videos which have failed to follow censorship policies.
