The Acting President of the NUG, Duwa Lashi La, reiterated the National Unity Government’s (NUG) commitment to fostering full cooperation between the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) and the NUG.

During the NUG’s online cabinet session on 2 April, Acting President Duwa Lashi La referred to the KIA as “the vanguard of the entire Northern Territory of Myanmar.”

He also emphasised the need to achieve revolutionary outcomes by 2025.

He said the KIA has played pivotal roles in the Spring Revolution both politically and militarily and has been openly collaborating with the NUG in both spheres.

Under the leadership of the KIA, allied forces are presently launching raids on junta encampments in Kachin State, where there is fierce fighting.

On 31 March, the KIA seized control of Seinlong Strategic Hill, a key military installation along the Momauk – Lwegel Highway, which had been held by junta forces for over six decades.

Subsequently, the KIA took over Lwegel Town, a border town between Myanmar and China.

Acting President Duwa Lashi La expressed satisfaction with the KIA’s counter-revolutionary military achievements during the meeting, deeming them “undoubtedly very gratifying.”
