The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • According to the Ministry of Defence-NUG on Saturday, the military junta has been using their forces both on ground and in the air to get back their camp in Thayetgone Village seized by Mdy PDF in Naungcho Township, 10 miles away from Pyin Oo Lwin.
  • In Kyaikto of Mon State, Kyaw Kyaw, a former soldier working for the military junta, was shot on Friday morning. Reportedly, he was seriously injured.
  • In Seik Phyu Township of Magway Region, the People’s Defence Forces (PDFs) simultaneously attacked No. (21) Defence Items Factory based in Gazunma Village.
  • According to No. (3) Pakkoku District PDF, a junta policeman, along with weapons, defected to them. Reportedly, he was rewarded 30 lakh MMK.
  • On Friday, Yangon Regional PDF (2) completed their refresher course.
  • A member of the Special Commando Force P29914 lost his life in the battles to seize the junta police station and camps in Hpapun of Karen State.

Revolution Activities

  • In Hleku Township of Yangon Region, there was an attack via remote mine on the office of Myanmar War Veterans Organization on Yangon-Mandalay Highway at about 7:00 pm Friday.
  • In Mayangone Township, there was an explosion in Ward (9) at 11:30 pm Friday. Reportedly, two unexploded hand-made mines were found as well.
  • As a 1101-day protest, a combined rally of Salingyi and Yinmabin in Sagaing Region marched against the military dictatorship on Saturday.
  • In Yinmabin Township, a rally named Daung Thway Ni with the Flag of Victory led a march against the military dictatorship.
  • In Sagaing Township, the junta army has been invading Minwun Mountain Range. On Thursday morning, they conducted aerial attacks and fired heavy weapons. Consequently, two PDF members lost their lives and a large number of the public’s houses were damaged.
  • In Ye-U Township, the junta army fired mortars into the alms-offering ceremony in Hnawgone Village on 23 April. Reportedly, the event had to be cancelled.
  • To nourish the PDF members in frontline battles, a social group fed them with hamburgers, fried vermicelli and pork lollipops.
  • In Mahlaing Township of Mandalay Region, there was a bomb attack via drone on the junta army stationed in Thayet Kaung Village on Friday. Reportedly, a junta soldier died.
  • In Tada-U Township, there was a mine attack on a junta convoy on Thursday evening. Reportedly, there might have been fatalities among the junta soldiers.
  • In Myingyan Township, the Pyusawti members in Le Eaindan Village arrested and killed a seller named U Pho Htoo on Thursday morning. Reportedly, they discarded his dead body on the roadside.
  • In Madayar Township, the junta armed forces set fire to three local villages on Saturday. Reportedly, they burnt nearly the whole village of Hinthargone.
  • In Tilin Township of Magway Region, there were attacks on the junta armed forces stationed in Ye-Myet-Ni Police Station and Shwe Aung Thar Village on Thursday morning. Reportedly, two junta soldiers died.
  • In Myaing Township, there was a guerrilla attack on the junta army on their way out of Kaing Taw Ma Village in search of rations on Friday morning. Reportedly, three junta soldiers died.
  • In Oatpho Township of Bago Region, there were local battles near Tinwachaung Village on Friday and Saturday. Reportedly, 15 junta soldiers died.
  • In Gyobinkauk Township, an author named Lin Nyunt Thwe was beaten and arrested by the junta army in Thegone Ward on Thursday night. So far, he has been out of contact.
  • Info Birmanie and Justice for Myanmar called for the confiscation of the property and the withdrawal of visa against the daughter of the Shwe Byain Phyu Company associated with Myanmar’s military junta, who is attending the HEC economic school in France.
  • The European Union extended their sanctions against 103 individuals including the junta leader Min Aung Hlaing and 21 organizations including Myanmar Economic Corporation for one more year until 30 April 2025.

Ethnic Armed Organizations (EAOs)

  • According to the Bangkok Post, Colonel Saw Chit Thu, the Chief of Karen National Army transformed from the Border Guard Force, is playing a vital role in the fight for complete control of Myawaddy between Myanmar’s Army and the armed organizations in Myanmar.
  • In Buthitaung Township and Maungtaw Township of Rakhine State, the Arakan Army issued a night curfew.
  • In Ahm Township with the junta’s Western Military Headquarters and in Thandwe Township, there were heavy battles between the junta army and the AA on Friday.
  • In Ahm Township, the AA fired heavy weapons on the junta police stations, army camps and military hospital at about 8:00 pm Friday.
  • On Saturday, the Karenni Army completed their military training Batch (75). They conducted an oath-water taking and performed a march.

The Military Council

  • On the trip to China, the junta Minister of Home Affairs signed an MOU on assisting 5 million Yuan for the Myanmar Police Force.
  • The junta propaganda leader Major General Zaw Min Tun claimed that they have been trying hard to regain complete control of Myawaddy in Karen State.
  • After closing for 7 days on Myanmar side, No. (1) Friendship Bridge on Thai-Myanmar border was reopened on Saturday morning.
  • According to the junta police force, they changed the night curfew in 5 townships of Yangon Region.
  • According to the junta Labour Department, there have been up to 560 overseas employment agencies sending Myanmar workers abroad.
  • In honour of Labour Day, the military junta will conduct a show of the MSME products in Naypyidaw.
  • According to the junta Fishery Department, they expect to earn over 800 million USD from the export of fishery products in 2024-2025 fiscal year.
  • In Puta-O District with skyrocketing prices of consumer goods, basic food items were sent by air for the civil servants on Friday.
  • For the investment of Thai businesses in Thilawa Special Economic Zone, a delegation from Thailand Myanmar Business Council discussed with the military junta on Friday.
  • In Pauktaw Township of Rakhine State, the junta navy fired mortars on Thursday evening. Consequently, three local people were injured.
  • In Mayangone Township of Yangon Region, the military junta and municipal department forced nearly 600 houses on the side of Aung Thaidy Road to move away, saying that they are squatters.

Summary on 28 April

  • The military junta claimed that they have been trying to get back control of Myawaddy. On the other hand, it seems impossible for them to do so without the assistance of the BGF. Reportedly, the junta troops have not been able to go beyond Mount Dawna. There have been no junta forces in the town as well.
  • Although it was claimed that China would provide assistance of 5 million Yuan to Myanmar Police Force, it might be mainly for the crackdown on Kyar Phyant online gambling deeply rooted in Myanmar.
