Spring Revolution Daily News for 15 December 2023

The National Unity Government (NUG)

· The Ministry of Labor- NUG will organize a roundtable discussion on migrant workers at 5:00 pm on 16 December.

· On Wednesday, there was a meeting between the NUG Central Committee on the Interim Public Administration and Township People’s Administration Teams from Magwe Region and Mandalay Region.

· In Oatpho Township of Bago Region in No. (2) Southern Military Region- NUG, the members of the underground guerrilla met with local people.

· In Madayar Township of Mandalay Region, a combined force of Mdy PDF and Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) attacked the junta army stationed in the monastery of Kyauktada Village.

· In the south of Yay Township in Mon State, Naing Kaung Ywet, Deputy Minister of Defence- NUG, met with members of revolutionary forces.

· According to White Dragon Column under the Ministry of Defence- NUG, they managed to take control of the Asia Highway after local battles in Kawkarait on the trade route of Thai-Myanmar border for nearly two weeks.

Revolutionary Activities

· In Phyuu Township of Bago Region, a combined force of Phapun District PDF attacked and gained control of the junta’s Nyaungbintha Police Station on the Yangon-Mandalay Highway.

· In Madayar Township of Mandalay Region, the junta army, which had been attacked by the revolutionary forces, fired heavy weapons at local villages, killing 3 people including 2 children.

· Justice for Myanmar called on the UK government to place sanctions on the mining businesses and individuals associated with the military junta.

· In Pale Township of Sagaing Region, the Myingyan Black Tiger conducted a guerrilla attack on the junta army. Reportedly, 2 junta soldiers were seriously injured.

· In Monywa Township, there were Shar Htoo Waw bombing attacks via drone on four places in the compound of the junta’s Northwest Military Headquarters. Reportedly, 5 junta soldiers including a captain died.

· In Mawlu Town, a combined force of Kachin Independence Army, All Burma Students’ Democratic Front and PDFs attacked the junta’s police station on Wednesday. Afterwards, they took control of the town. Reportedly, 2 PDF members lost their lives and another one got injured.

· In Thatone Township of Mon State, there was a bomb explosion at the house belonging to the parents-in-law of the junta’s Acting President U Myint Swe in Nanke Ward.

· In Shwe Pyi Thar Township of Yangon Region, the junta’s police station was attacked with explosives on Wednesday.

· In Yesagyo Township of Magwe Region, Myingyan Black Tiger attacked the junta army stationed at the General Administration Department with mortars.

· In Gantgaw District and Pakkoku District, the junta army conducted two air strikes in areas controlled by the PDFs where there was no fighting.

Ethnic Armed Organisations (EAOs)

· In Karenni State, the Karenni Nationalities Defence Force No. (2) completed its basic military training on Tuesday.

· In news released on the 48th day of Operation 1027, the Northern Alliance pledged again that they would continue to fight to uproot the military dictatorship.

· According to the Arakan Army (AA), ancient pagodas were damaged due to the junta’s air attack from helicopters in Mrauk-U of Rakhine State.

· In Namsam Township of Northern Shan State, the Ta’ang National Liberation Army took control of the junta’s Shwe Pi Oo Tea Factory.

· In the Kokang Area, the Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army has been going after junta soldiers who refused to give up their arms and fought back.

The Military Council

· According to the junta’s Labor Diplomatic Office in Thailand, general migrant workers will have to pay 150 baht and company staff 822 baht monthly.

· After the prison sentence of Brigadier General Soe Htut; the junta’s former Minister of Home Affairs, his confidant Kyaw Thiha, the Police Officer in Chief of the Information Unit, was sentenced to three years in prison.

· The junta propaganda leader Major General Zaw Min Tun claimed that there had been attacks via remote mines on 230KV sub-power station in Thingan Nyi Naung of Myawaddy Township and the Mandalay-Yangon passenger train in Kyaukdagar Township.

· On Thursday, the junta’s Minister of Foreign Affairs received Mr. Ramanathan Balakrishnan, the Representative of the United Nations Population Fund who is leaving the country.

· In Yangon, the so-called nationalists conducted a protest against East Timor and other countries interfering with the home affairs of Myanmar, in the car park near Maha Bandula Park in front of the City Hall.

Summary on 15 December

· Throughout the country, revolutionary forces have taken control of the junta’s camps and towns. The junta army has just been in defensive positions and they have suffered great losses. In other words, the military junta has had less area under their influence.

· With a desperate need for foreign currency, the military junta has been collecting taxes by force from the workers abroad via their passports.
