Spring Revolution Daily News for 29 April 2024

The National Unity Government (NUG)

· In a meeting of the United Nations Security Council, Myanmar’s Ambassador to the UN U Kyaw Moe Tun stated that Myanmar’s Army has been using violence as a military weapon.

· Ministry of Health-NUG called on the international community not to ignore the junta’s violence against the health sector including the bombing of Wammathu Hospital in Mindat Township of Chin State and to take responsive action against such activities.

· According to Ministry of Health-NUG on Saturday, the military junta has conducted 1293 attacks on the health sector and killed 104 healthcare staff since the coup.

· According to Tigyaint Township People’s Administration in Sagaing Region, the junta army conducted four attacks via fighter jet on the local market and the local clinic in Kanni Village on the afternoon of 24 April. Reportedly, seven people were hit and two of them had to receive emergency treatment.

· Along with the leadership of Karen National Liberation Army Brigade (5), Hpapun People’s Defence Force under Ministry of Defence-NUG took part in the battles to seize the towns.

Revolution Activities

· In Mingaladone Township of Yangon Region, there was an attack via remote mine on the security gate of the junta’s Ka-Ma-Ya (106) based in Tauk Gyant at 6:40 pm Saturday. Reportedly, three junta soldiers on duty were injured.

· In Kyimyindine Township, allegedly a junta informer was shot dead at close range in Thayettaw (South) Ward.

· On Sunday morning, an unexploded bomb was found on the side of Yangon-Insein Road near Hlaing Myoma Police Station. Reportedly, the junta army blocked off the road and blew it up.

· In Monywa Township of Sagaing Region, a combined force of PDFs attacked a troop of junta soldiers and Pyusawti members on their way to repair the bridge on entrance to Tawpu Village. Reportedly, three junta soldiers died.

· In Butalin Township, there was an attack on the junta army near Tantaw Village at about 2:00 pm on 25 April. According to the revolution forces, they also caught a junta soldier alive.

· On 25 April, there were bomb attacks via drone on the junta armed forces in Shwebo. Reportedly, three junta soldiers died.

· Local PDF announced that they would prevent illegal logging in Alaungdaw Katthapa National Sanctuary. On 15 April, they set up a committee for it.

· In Yinmabin Township and Salingyi Township, the junta armed forces have been invading local villages. Starting from 23 April, thousands of people from 6 villages have had to run away.

· In Sint Kaing Township of Mandalay Region, Aung Win, a member of the junta’s local administration and a member of Union Solidarity and Development Party, was shot dead. Reportedly, he had been recruiting for the junta army in Uyingyi Village.

· In Pauk Township of Magway Region, a junta policeman named Sithu Bo, along with weapons, defected to No. (3) Pakkoku District PDF on Friday. Reportedly, he was rewarded 30 lakh MMK.

· In Pakkoku Township, there were attacks via drone and mines on the junta army and Pyusawti in Nga Phaungkan Village and Bonekan Village at about 8:00 am on 25 April. Reportedly, two junta soldiers died and two cars were damaged.

· In Yebyu Township of Tanintharyi Region, a junta police officer was shot dead at about 4:00 pm Friday while he was demanding money from passenger cars.

· Thatone Township PDF announced that they would take action against the junta’s departmental staff and all the other stakeholders trying to bring life to the junta’s Military Service Law in Mon State.

· In Thatone Township, there was a bomb attack on Thein Seik Police Station in Thuwunnawady on Saturday morning.

· In Sisai Township of Southern Shan State, the junta army and Pa-O National Organization destroyed Waing Kaung Village and the bridge via drone and mines at 10:30 pm Saturday.

· At the headquarters and their branches, the Students’ Army celebrated the 3rd anniversary of their establishment.

· In New York, USA, there was a protest against the junta’s illegal Military Service Law in Times Square on Sunday.

Ethnic Armed Organizations (EAOs)

· In Sisai Township of Southern Shan State, there were battles at three places on Saturday. According to Pa-O National Liberation Army, 13 junta soldiers died.

· In Rakhine State, the Arakan Army took control of the junta’s Taw Hein Taung Strategic Camp near Ahm with the Western Military Headquarters. Reportedly, hundreds of junta soldiers ran away in chaos.

· In Mindat Township of Chin State, Wammathu Public’s Hospital was burnt down to ashes due to the junta’s airstrike. Chin National Front called for humanitarian assistance for the revival of the hospital.

· In Kutkhine Township of Northern Shan State, a large number of the members of Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army surrounded the members of Kachin Independence Army at the inspection gate in Namphetkar Village. Regarding it, the MNDAA apologized to the KIA and the issue was resolved.

The Military Council

· According to the junta’s Military Headquarters Office, the former soldiers who have retired for various reasons must serve again for at least three years and the pension would be cancelled during the military service.

· The military junta issued an order that the former soldiers under the age of 67 must join the reserve force and serve in the army again.

· In Magway Region, the situation is getting worse and worse in which the military junta has taken away the youth and the men for military service. Reportedly, most of the people have run away.

· On Saturday, the junta Ministry of Information warned again that there would be action against the production of obscene music and videos.

· According to the junta’s Customs Department, Shweme Harbor and Moattama Harbor in Shwe Pyi Thar Township of Yangon Region have been regarded as temporary harbors for international loading and unloading of goods.

· In Kawkarait Township of Karen State and Kyaikmayaw Township of Mon State, the junta army has been doing mine clearance operations in Kawbain Village, Damatha Village and near-by ones.

· In the junta’s propaganda newspaper on Sunday, the military junta called on local people to return home in Damatha Village and its neighborhood with heavy fighting in March as the area is stable again.

Summary on 29 April

· Old soldiers, who have served the military for years and retired, must join the reserve force. If they fail to do so, their pension will be cancelled. It is just a junta threat and wild action no matter how much they say that it is in accord with the law.

· To avoid the junta’s recruitment by force all over the country, some young people have joined the revolution forces and many others have gone abroad.
