Spring Revolution Daily News for 31 May 2024

The National Unity Government (NUG)

· In the southern military region of the People’s Defence Force (PDF) under the Ministry of Defence-NUG, the Special Operation Force completed their training Batch (4) on 25 May.

· In Kawkarait Township of Karen State, PDF Galon Column supported 5 lakh MMK to a self-help school in Kyonedoe.

· In Yinmabin District of Sagaing Region, PDF Regiment (25) Unit (3) successfully completed their training on Thursday.

· At 6:00 pm Wednesday, there was an online meeting between the Alliance Relations Committee- NUG and the Interim Chin National Council.

Revolution Activities

· In Sagaing Region, a combined rally of villages from Yinmabin North marched for the downfall of the military dictatorship on Thursday.

· In Chaung-U Township, there was an attack on the junta army on their way out from the gate of Mya Pearl Gas Station at about 9:00 am Wednesday. Reportedly, 3 junta soldiers died.

· In Sagaing Township, there were bomb attacks via drone on the junta police station in Sartaung and the junta’s Pyusawti Camp in Kywepone Village.

· In Salingyi, a junta policeman, who had defected to local PDF along with weapons, was rewarded 100 lakh MMK.

· In Shwebo Township, the revolution forces attacked Pyusawti Militia in Nyaung Kaing Village at 4:30 am on 24 May. Reportedly, 9 Pyusawti members died.

· In South Okkalapa Township of Yangon Region, there was a grenade attack on the junta soldiers guarding the junta’s Myawaddy Bank on Weizayandar Road at about 7:00 pm Wednesday.

· In South Okkalapa Township, there was a bomb explosion in front of Ngwe Taung Restaurant on Wednesday night. Last year, the junta army beat a PDF member to death there.

· In South Okkalapa Township, Operation Flame blew up the administration offices of Ward (14) and (3) implementing the junta’s Military Service Law.

· In Taungthar Township of Mandalay Region, there was a bomb attack via drone on the junta army in the monastery of Magyibinte Village at about 3:00 pm Wednesday. Reportedly, 5 junta soldiers died.

· In Madayar Township, there was an attack via 81mm grenades on the junta’s base camp in Ngar Lone Pyone Village at 10:30 pm Wednesday.

· In Tilin Township of Magway Region, the junta army conducted an aerial bombing on the area near Swelwe Village without any battles on Wednesday afternoon. Reportedly, a buffalo was hit and died.

· In Myaing Township, the PDFs conducted an attack at close range on 15 junta soldiers on their way out for rations at 8:40 am Wednesday.

· In Natmauk Township, there was a mine attack on a junta troop on Wednesday morning. Reportedly, 3 junta soldiers died and 2 captains lost their hands.

· In Tanintharyi Township of Tanintharyi Region, the junta army fired mortars into Theinnaw Village without any battles on 24 May. Reportedly, local people from the whole village had to run away and some houses were damaged.

· In Ayeyarwady Region, many people, who had been summoned for the junta’s military service by name, ran away.

Ethnic Armed Organizations (EAOs)

· For local administration of Dir areas in Kanpetlet, Mindat, Matupi and Paletwa of Chin State, Dir Local Administration Council was established.

· In Titain, Chin Revolution Forces have been conducting an offensive to seize the town. Reportedly, almost all townspeople have had to run away.

· Starting from 28 May, Karen National Union/ Karen National Liberation Army (Peace Council) closed the country roads including Tokawkoe used for Myawaddy-HpaAng trade.

· In Buthitaung Township of Rakhine State, the junta army conducted an air attack via fighter jet near Nga Kyaing Tauk Village. According to the Arakan Army, they provided medical treatment to the injured victims in the incident.

· In Sisai Township of Southern Shan State, the junta’s Pa-O National Organization arrested and killed a traveler. According to Pa-O National Liberation Army, about 1,000 local people have had to run away due to the mortars fired by the junta’s PNO.

· In Matupi of Chin State, Chin National Army and local CDF attacked and seized the junta base camp at District Office on Matupi-Hakha Road.

The Military Council

· The junta leader Min Aung Hlaing paid a visit to the abbot of Mahar Wizitaryone Monastery, who has been receiving medical treatment, on Wednesday.

· The second junta leader Soe Win said that they must do the discussion and presentation related to the project of a small industrial zone in Magway proposed by Magway Regional Government.

· In the local market, a USD has been worth 4,650MMK. At such time, the junta’s Central Bank announced that the public are just to trust the currency exchange rate of licensed banks and not to look at or trust the rates online.

· On Wednesday, the junta’s Union Election Commission stated that Unity and Development Party had applied for registration as a political party.

· According to the junta’s Myanmar Embassy in Malaysia, they will take action against swindlers, who have been lying about passport and identification documents on social media.

· On Myanmar-Thai border, the military junta has threatened financial transfer services at the border gate of Kawthaung-Yanaung.

· According to residents of Yangon and Mandalay, they were not able to connect with VPN and use Facebook and Messenger.

Summary on 31 May

· To control the extremely high prices of the USD and gold in local markets, the military junta has been trying in various ways. However, their activities have not worked. Therefore, they just end up arresting and inspecting as usual. Consequently, the transactions came to a stop, which might cause a little lower rate of the USD and gold prices.
