Spring Revolution Daily News for 27 June 2024  

The National Unity Government (NUG)  

  • In a United Nations meeting on Tuesday, Myanmar’s Ambassador U Kyaw Moe Tun stated that the military junta has tricked the international community by disseminating their propaganda and fake news through foreign-based Myanmar embassies and the media outlets under their control.  
  • On Tuesday, Ministry of Foreign Affairs-NUG stated that the NUG Representative to India had been suspended during an internal investigation.  
  • Ministry of Human Rights-NUG stated that they had been able to collect up to 275 cases of human rights violations by the junta army.  

Revolution Activities  

  • The spokesperson of the U.S. Foreign Department stated that the U.S. has not changed their policy on Myanmar and they have been using all diplomatic ways to put pressure on the military junta.  
  • In Monywa Township of Sagaing Region, local people dare not return home as the junta army has stationed in the monastery compound in Ywar Taung Village.  
  • In Yay Township of Mon State, a second sergeant from the junta’s Myoma Police Station, along with weapons, defected to Yay-Balu Force.  
  • According to an EC member of Political Prisoners’ Network Myanmar, a political prisoner named Ko Htet Yan Naing lost his life as he had been beaten to death by the junta’s staff in Mandalay Obo Central Prison.  
  • In Myinmu Township, there were bomb attacks via drone on the junta armed forces. Reportedly, 2 junta soldiers died.  
  • In a new report by the Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in Myanmar Tom Andrews, it was stated that 16 banks in 7 countries had provided financial services, including payment transfers for weapons, to Myanmar’s military junta in the previous two years.  
  • In Moegoke of Mandalay Region, there has been heavier fighting. On Wednesday afternoon, there were local battles in the western part of the town and near the police station.  

Ethnic Armed Organizations (EAOs)  

  • In Titain Township of Chin State, there has been ongoing fighting between the junta army and Chin Council. Reportedly, the junta soldiers have been setting fire to the public’s houses.  
  • In Kyauk Dagar Township of Bago Region, a combined force of Karen National Liberation Army and the PDF attacked two junta gates. Reportedly, 16 junta soldiers died.  
  • In Naungcho of Northern Shan State, there were no junta soldiers left in town, just the members of Ta’ang National Liberation Army on Wednesday morning.  
  • In four townships, the TNLA has been fighting the junta armed forces. On Wednesday, they attacked the junta’s Ka-Ma-Ya (115) in Naungcho Township and the junta’s strategic camp in Moegoke.  
  • In Kyaukme of Northern Shan State, the TNLA has been attacking the junta’s A-Ma-Ta (352) and Sakhan Thar Hill Camp.  
  • In Maungtaw Township of Rakhine State, the junta army and their associates set fire to the warehouse of World Food Programme, according to the Arakan Army.  
  • In Lweje seized by Kachin Independence Army in Kachin State, local people participated in a walking event in commemoration of International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.  
  • In Sisai Township of Southern Shan State, there has been ongoing fighting. According to Pa-O National Liberation Army, the junta army and their Pa-O National Organization killed two people and demanded 30,000MMK per household.  
  • In Hopan of Wa District in Northern Shan State, United Wa State Party would change the town to district level starting from July.  

The Military Council  

  • According to the junta’s Ministry of Trade and Commerce, a container system would get started on a new trade route of Yangon-Kawthaung-Ranong for the border trade with Thailand.  
  • The junta’s Myanmar Rice Federation stated that there would be home delivery sale for rice starting from July.  
  • In the opening ceremony of Myanmar National Education Conference, the junta leader Min Aung Hlaing called for the establishment of a democratic nation based on a federal system, along with educated individuals.  
  • In Yangon Region, the junta department has conducted surprise checks via mobile fuel lab at local fuel stations.  
  • Aung Myintmo Min Co. Ltd, doing life insurance service for soldiers, carried out a lucky draw in Yangon.  

Summary on 27 June  

  • With the feeling of missing better days in the past, the junta army breached the ceasefire against the Northern Three Brotherhood Alliance. Consequently, they have had to let go of more towns. The TNLA and the PDFs were able to approach even Pyin Oo Lwin, the so-called the army town.
