Spring Revolution Daily News for 24 December 2023

The National Unity Government (NUG)

· In Mon State, Yay Balu Revolution Force based in Yay Township announced that they would change into a unit of the Special Operation Force under the Southern PDF Military Region of Ministry of Defence-NUG.

· In Taungoo District of Bago Region, members of Red Towel Column based in Yetashay Township did a area clearance operation in local villages.

· In Dawei District of Tanintharyi Region, the People’s Destination provided support to the CDM soldiers and police from Daung Nyinaung Column of the PDF.

· Ministry of Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Risks Management-NUG announced that they had provided international and humanitarian aid to the displaced people in Kawlin District of Sagaing Region.

· In Gantgaw Township of Magwe Region, Township People’s Administration renovated a bridge, which had been destroyed by Cyclone Mocha, for the transportation convenience of local people.

· U Aung Myo Min, Union Minister of Human Rights-NUG, stated that the US Foreign Ministry had removed the information falsely mentioned about Myanmar in the Global Violence Report 2022.

Revolution Activities

· In Natogyi Township of Mandalay Region, there was a mine attack on a junta convoy. According to a focal person of local PDF, 3 junta soldiers died.

· In Yinmabin Township of Sagaing Region, a combined rally, in cooperation with local people, conducted a farming strike against the military dictatorship on Saturday morning.

· In Hommalin Township, the PDFs took control of two junta army camps. Afterwards, the military junta conducted air strikes on Zeebintha Village, Naung San Kyin Village and T-Laung Village.

· In Myaung Township, the junta army has been invading the area in two troop contingents. Reportedly, over 3,000 people have had to run away.

· As a 1003-day protest, a combined rally of Salingyi and Yinmabin marched against the military dictatorship, holding signs- “China: Stop killing Myanmar people by not supporting fascist criminals”.

· In Myaing Township of Magwe Region, there was a bomb attack via drone on the junta army stationed in Thayetkan Village.

· In cooperation with local farmers, a rally of Youth’s Strength protested against the military dictatorship.

· In Myingyan Township of Mandalay Region, there was a bomb attack via drone on Nyaungto Pyusawti Village. Reportedly, two junta soldiers including a captain died.

Ethnic Armed Organizations (EAOs)

· In Mantone of Ta’ang Palaung Self-Administered Zone in Northern Shan State, Ta’ang National Liberation Army took control of the last junta’s camp on 22 December and they gained complete control of the town.

· In Duplaya District under Karen National Union Brigade (6), the junta army fired heavy weapons constantly into local villages. Reportedly, a woman lost her life and two other people got injured.

· According to the Three Brotherhood of Northern Alliance, the Arakan Army (AA) has been carrying out an offensive to seize a junta army camp on the Myanmar-India border.

· In the town of Mantone in Northern Shan State, the junta army conducted an aerial bombing, damaging about 15 houses. In Kutkhine, they fired mortars, killing a person.

The Military Council

· The junta leader Min Aung Hlaing said that the leaders must act in accordance with the characteristics of leadership and juniors must follow their seniors precisely. He added that a good follower is the beginning of a good leader in the future.

· In the meeting, the junta Minister of Health stated that despite the withdrawal of emergency state of COVID-19, it was necessary to take measures in advance and proceed with the coverage of the vaccination as the infection was on the rise again in the neighbouring countries and some others in the region.

· The second junta leader Soe Win delivered a speech at the sports competition of colleges in Naypyidaw.

· In Hmawbi of Yangon Region, there was a graduation dinner at the Union Hall for the women captains Batch (10). Reportedly, present on the occasion was the junta leader Min Aung Hlaing.

· The junta leader Senior General Min Aung Hlaing claimed that the military had been committed to the leadership of national politics according to the needs of history. He added that national politics covers the activities for peace, prosperity, justice, freedom and public’s wellbeing.

Summary on 24 December

· Despite the fact that the military junta has had to let go of their camps and towns in battles throughout the country, the junta leaders have been present at funfairs. In other words, they are just fun-loving guys.

· The junta leader has talked about national politics, nationalism and religion, however he has just pushed to gain control of state-owned enterprises for the interests of his own family.
