Spring Revolution Daily News for 25 December 2023

The National Unity Government (NUG)

· U Lwin Ko Latt, Union Minister of Home Affairs and Immigration-NUG and a member of People’s Security and Defence Committee, met with the forces on the western bank of Sittaung River.

· Ministry of Economics and Commerce-NUG announced that they had abolished the Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce along with its constitution as they had found out the organization associated with the military junta failed to focus on the public’s interest.

Revolution Activities

· In Dibeyin Township of Sagaing Region, the junta army has been invading the area since 16 December. Reportedly, they burnt down 12 houses, 2 cars and nearly 1,000 baskets of rice within a week.

· In Monywa, there was a bomb attack at the walking event at Kanthayar Lake where the junta Sagaing Regional Chief Minister was present.

· Somewhere in Monywa Township, hundreds of people got together and protested against the military dictatorship on Sunday morning.

· In Yinmabin Township, a local rally of ‘Let’s not get back in this revolution’ protested against the military dictatorship on Sunday.

· In Tamu Township, the junta army conducted aerial bombings on Zaydy Village and Aung Zayya Village on a daily basis. They also burnt public’s houses.

· In Northern Gantgaw Township of Magwe Region, there was an attack on the junta army on their way to Anauk Tawle Village for secret patrol. Reportedly, 6 junta soldiers died.

· In Tanintharyi Region, the military junta has prepared to take action against the two journalists of Dawei Watch based in Myeik under terrorism charges.

· In Hpakant Township of Kachin State, a combined rally of gems workers and Seng Taung marched against the military dictatorship on Sunday morning.

· People’s Defence Force Thandaung announced that they had blown up Kyaukdine Bridge on Taungoo-Laittho-Loikaw Road, where the junta army might come to strengthen their forces and carry rations.

· In Myingyan Township of Mandalay Region, there was a bomb attack via drone on Nyaungto Pyusawti Village. Reportedly, 2 junta soldiers including a captain died.

· In Busan and Gume of South Korea, the Way Musical Film directed by vocalist Lin Lin was shown. Reportedly, 420 tickets were sold.

Ethnic Armed Organizations (EAOs)

· In Paletwa Township, 4 junta policemen from Sami Police Station defected to local Public’s Administration Council, along with weapons.

· In Ta’ang State Brigade (3) in Northern Shan State, Ta’ang National Liberation Army gained complete control of the junta’s main camp in Mantone four days after their attack.

· The TNLA confiscated a large number of weapons including mine and mortars in the battle to seize the town of Mantone.

· The Three Brotherhood of Northern Alliance stated that as the saying goes ‘nothing is impossible’, the revolution forces and anti-junta people gained more strength and faith due to Operation 1027.

· In Kyauk Phyu Township of Rakhine State and Paletwa Township of Chin State, there have been ongoing battles between the junta armed forces and Arakan Army (AA).

· On Sunday morning, the AA raided the junta’s Mrauk-U Myoma Police Station. As the junta army fired mortars into the town, 5 people were injured.

· In Mone Township of Bago Region, the junta army conducted air strikes and shot heavy weapons to local villages for 6 consecutive days. Reportedly, a person lost their life and some houses were damaged.

The Military Council

· In the junta propaganda newspaper on Sunday, a total of 8565 gallons of illegal fuel oil was confiscated in Thanlyin Township and Kyauktan Township.

· In honour of the 76th Independence Day, the trade fair of MSME businesses was held in Aung Mingalar Ward of Naypyidaw.

· The junta leader Min Aung Hlaing said that they had been serving the national duty with the effort for peace to pass down a stable future and a nation of world-class development to the future generations.

· In honour of the 76th Independence Day, the final football match and the award-giving ceremony was held for the women teams under the age of 25 from various ministries in Naypyidaw on Sunday afternoon. Reportedly, present on the occasion were the members of the military junta.

Summary on 25 December

· Despite the news that there would be a meeting between the Northern Alliance and the military junta, there still have been heavy battles in Rakhine State and Northern Shan State.

· In Naypyidaw; the headquarters of the military junta, there have been funfairs one after another. It might be considered that the military junta has distracted the public from the battle news about seizing the junta camps and towns.
