The National Unity Government (NUG)

· Union Minister of Foreign Affairs- NUG attended the Munich Security Conference 2024 held in Germany from 16 to 18 February. Reportedly, she discussed the theme- “Rebel With a Cause: Voice of Civil Resistance” on 17 February.

· At 1:00 pm Wednesday, there was a meeting between the Central Committee on the Interim Public Administration-NUG and Township People’s Administration from Mandalay Region and Magwe Region.

· At 8:00 pm Tuesday, there was a meeting via video conferencing between the Committee Representing the Pyitaungsu Hluttaw and the Karenni Ethnics Liberation Front.

· U Yi Mon, Union Minister of Defence- NUG, called for rejecting the junta’s slavery law, going to a liberated area in the face of hardships and contributing to the revolution.

Revolutionary Activities

· In Myeik of Tanintharyi Region, there was a bomb explosion on Wednesday night. Reportedly, a member of the LGBT community lost their life and two others were injured.

· Tom Andrews, the Special Envoy of the United Nations Human Rights Council to Myanmar, stated that the junta’s military service law has become a threat to Myanmar people and the military junta suffering great losses has become more dangerous.

· In Hlaing Tharyar Township of Yangon Region, the members of an urban guerrilla group conducted an attack via remote mine at Xi Yan, a Chinese restaurant associated with the military junta, on Wednesday night.

· In Shwebo Township, the junta soldiers and police stationing in the compound of Shwe Dhar Monastery have been wildly firing mortars. Consequently, local people from four villages have had to run away.

· In Ye-U, there was a bomb attack via drone on the military junta holding a meeting in the stadium. Reportedly, two junta members got injured.

· In Yinmabin Township, a rally named ‘Let’s Never Get Back in This Revolution’ marched against the military dictatorship.

· In Hpa Kant of Kachin State, local people protested against the military dictatorship and the junta’s military service law.

· In Myaing Township of Magway Region, there were bomb attacks via drone on the junta armed forces. Reportedly, 20 junta soldiers died.

Ethnic Armed Organisations

· In Minbya Township of Rakhine State, the Arakan Army took control of three security camps and strategic camp No. (9) Military Training School in Kanni Village.

· The New Mon State Party (Against Dictatorship) has a plan to provide help to the youth who want to avoid the junta’s military service law and they will discuss important matters in detail with other groups.

· The Secretary General (2) of the Karen National Union called for getting away from the junta’s illegal laws and the junta’s plan to enslave the youth. He also called for the fight against the military dictatorship.

· In Nyaunglebin District under the KNU, there were some more casualties among the civilians due to mortar fire and air strikes by the military junta.

· In Loikaw of Karenni State, the junta army dropped fire bombs on five places in town. According to the Karenni Nationalities Defence Force, some houses were burnt to ashes.

· In Hopone Township of Southern Shan State, four junta members died in local battles. Reportedly, the Pa-O National Liberation Army confiscated a 60mm grenade, a car and other ammunition.

The Military Council

· There was a meeting between the Russian Deputy Foreign Minister and the junta leader in Naypyitaw. Reportedly, they discussed the use of nuclear technology in a peaceful way.

· According to the junta Minister of Planning and Finance, international, local and partner micro-finance organisations have provided financial services to 3.45 million members.

· The Chair of the junta’s Media Council said that upholding the media law, they must make it known to the stakeholders and the public with regard to the right news about the real situation in the country.

· The junta’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transportation attended the event commemorating the 76th Chin National Day.

· The second junta leader Soe Win received an Indian delegation led by the military officer Harjeet Singh Sahi

· The junta propaganda media broadcast the false news that the junta’s special commando had cleared off Yay-Balu Guerrillas in Yay Township of Mon State.

Summary on 23 February

· Via the state-run media and private media under their control, the military junta has been trying to cover up their human rights violations and war crimes. They have also intentionally broadcast wrong information defaming the revolution.
