Spring Revolution Daily News for 5 March 2024

The National Unity Government (NUG)

· The NUG welcomed the call of the current United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Turk to international organizations to establish relationship with the NUG.

· In Magway Region, Gantgaw Township People’s Defence Force (PDF) provided the cash reward to the junta’s Pyusawti members who had defected to them along with weapons.

· On Sunday, there was a meeting between the NUG Central Committee on the Interim Public Administration and Township People’s Administration Teams from Tanintharyi Region, Ayeyarwady Region and Bago Region.

Revolution Activities

· In Mindat Township of Chin State, the junta army conducted aerial strikes on a local village for two days. According to local people, some unexploded bombs were left in the village.

· In Sintku Township of Mandalay Region, two junta-appointed village administrators were shot dead.

· In Myaing Township of Magway Region, General Education Strike Committee carried out an anti-junta movement and provided food to displaced people.

· The spokesperson of the Arakan Army stated that they would regard any anti-junta organizations including the PDF as allies and they would provide support to them. He added that they would do things differently while joining hands for the common good.

· In Yinmabin Township of Sagaing Region, a rally named ‘Let’s Never Get Back in This Revolution’ marched against the military dictatorship on Monday.

· In Longlone Township of Tanintharyi Region, the DDMSC conducted a night strike against the military dictatorship, along with a show of revolution films.

· In Ashaydaw Area of Dawei Township, the junta army carried out an aerial attack near Myittar Town and Haindabyin Village at about 10:30 am Monday.

· On 1 March, the junta army stationed in the ancient town of Dagaung set fire to 20 houses in Ward (4).

· In Salingyi, there were attacks on the junta’s police station and the hospital in town on 2 March. Reportedly, three junta members died.

Ethnic Armed Organizations (EAOs)

· In the press conference on Monday, the Deputy Commander in Chief of the Arakan Army Dr. Nyo Tun Aung stated that there had been no discussion for a ceasefire in Rakhine State.

· In Kunming City of China, the Three Brotherhood of Northern Alliance and the military junta have been negotiating for the matters including the ceasefire and border passes.

· The AA released a video in which a junta soldier was admitting that they had committed a group rape against a young woman in Ngatanbyin Village of Minbya Township in Rakhine State and they had killed both her mother and her.

· The AA released the photos that they have been protecting the junta members whom they had rescued when the junta ships sank, the prisoners of war and the children.

· Among the junta soldiers arrested by the AA in local battles of Rakhine State, those with various positions, ranging from the brigadier general to just ordinary soldier, would be sent to martial court for their war crimes.

The Military Council

· According to the junta’s Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation, over 800 farmers (both state-owned and private) have kept 200,000 bee hives in 2023-24 fiscal year.

· At the military hall in Magway, the junta’s Mid-Regional Commander met with the old soldiers and the members of local militias.

· A junta member Man Nyein Maung, along with the junta’s Chief Minister of Ayeyarwady Region and some other ministers, inspected the farms in Lapputa District and Myaungmya District.

· According to the junta’s Ministry of Economics and Commerce, they would try to raise the export of agricultural products to Japan in the upcoming fiscal year.

· In Mudone Township of Mon State, New Mon State Party (Against Dictatorship) arrested three local leaders of the junta militia in Kamarwet Town and Kawpitaw Village. After that, the military junta took away three women, non-military targets and the relatives of the NMSP (AD) members.

Summary on 5 March

· According to the investigation of the AA, the war crimes of the junta army against the people have been found out. On behalf of the public, the AA would give the sentences to the junta members, which are equivalent to their sins.
