Spring Revolution Daily News for 4 April 2024

The National Unity Government (NUG)

· On 30 March, there was an online meeting between Ministry of Judiciary Affairs-NUG and CDM Civil Servants’ Council (Mon).

· In Yangon Region, there were attacks using 107mm grenades on the residence belonging to the junta army officer of No. (3) Unit and the office in Hlaing Township on Tuesday night.

· In Yesagyo Township of Magway Region, People’s Defence Forces (PDFs) attacked junta soldiers from Ka-La-Ya (258) traveling in cars on the way into town.

· In a government meeting on Tuesday, Acting President of the NUG stated that they are committed to cooperation with the Kachin Independence Army.

· In Pakkoku Township of Magway Region, Local Public’s Administration announced on Tuesday that tax must not be collected except for specified areas.

Revolution Activities

· According to a press conference of Mae Sot Police Station on Wednesday morning, weapons including RPGs, allegedly to be sent to Myanmar, were confiscated near Thaungyin River on the Thai-Myanmar border on Tuesday.

· In Oatpho of Bago Region, there was a mine attack on a junta troop contingent on their way to repair a cable destroyed by the revolution forces. Reportedly, about 10 junta soldiers died.

· In Myaing Township of Magway Region, local PDFs attacked the junta army invading the area.

· In Myingyan Township of Mandalay Region, there was an attack on a camp of junta soldiers and Pyusawti members in Kyaukgone Village. Reportedly, weapons were confiscated.

· In Monywa of Sagaing Region, youth from a social group protested against the military dictatorship on Wednesday morning.

· In Buitalin Township, Burmese Students’ Union shared brochures on preventive measures against air attacks.

· In Yinmabin and Salingyi, Burmese Students’ Union and Mini Rats’ Force – MRF provided money and lunch to the displaced people.

· In Yinmabin Township, a local rally named ‘Let’s Never Get Back in This Revolution’ marched against the military dictatorship.

· In Mingaladone Township of Yangon Region, there was a grenade attack on the security booth near the administration office of Shwe Nant Thar. Reportedly, three people including the junta administrator died.

· The members of People’s Revolution Front went to the tombstone of Comrade Wathan, the very first one in their group who had lost his life last year.

Ethnic Armed Organizations (EAOs)

· In Mindat Township of Chin State, local CDF announced on Tuesday that they would carry out strong military projects in 2024 and raise their momentum for the end of the military dictatorship.

· In Southern Shan State, Sisai has been a battlefield between the junta army and Pa-O National Liberation Army. The spokesperson of the PNLA called on local people not to return to the town in case of any danger.

· In Moemauk Township of Kachin State, Kachin Independence Army took control of the junta’s Mai Set Kaung Camp on Wednesday morning.

· In Hpapun District under Karen National Union Brigade (5) in Karen State, there were 99 battles in March. Reportedly, 42 junta soldiers including 2 captains died.

The Military Council

· At the time of record high prices in the local gold market, the military junta suspended the license of 7 gold shops in Yangon and Mandalay, saying that they failed to follow the rules and regulations.

· According to the record of the junta police, a car, which can be driven via a remote control system, was found at a hotel in Naypyitaw.

· In Yangon Region, there would be more than 200 pandals including the Central One for the water festival.

· The junta’s Central Bank announced that they would sell 3 million USD, 2 million Yuan and 40 million Baht to importers and exporters via Online Trading Platform.

· The junta Minister of Defence stated that they would oversee the responsible personnel for summoning of military conscripts.

· In Moenyin of Kachin State, 36.82 tons of ammonium nitrate was confiscated.

· According to a report of the Chinese Government, the junta’s Deputy Minister of Defence Brigadier General Aung Linn Tun was arrested and investigated for having been related to Kyar Phyant online fraud gangs.

· U Ko Ko Lat, a man selected for public military service, died of fits four days after the training started.

· The Commander in Chief of Kachin State and the two brigadier generals under him have been investigated in Naypyitaw.

Summary on 4 April

· With an excuse of the Public’s Military Service Law, local administrators have been doing what they want, including demanding the money from the public. In reality, the law is just on the books and whatever local administrators seem to be able to do what they want.
