Spring Revolution Daily News for 6 April 2024

The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • According to Myeik District People’s Defence Force (1), they conducted five attacks via drone on the junta’s Ka-Ma-Ya (561) based in Nyaungbingwin Village of Tanintharyi Township in Tanintharyi Region on Thursday evening and night.
  • In the statement to the International Landmine Education Day, Acting President of the NUG stated that as long as there is the military dictatorship in Myanmar, the people still will have to suffer from the danger of landmines and only without the military dictatorship, a safe and sustainable society could be established.
  • There was a meeting between Central Committee on the Interim Public’s Administration-NUG and Township People’s Administration from Mandalay Region and Magway Region.
  • The Acting President of the NUG called for the victory of the Spring Revolution which could put an end to the military dictatorship and the emergence of a new constitution.
  • Via social media, the Minister of Defence- NUG stated that every target could be registered after the drone attacks on Naypyitaw.

Revolution Activities

  • The member states of the United Nations Human Rights Council agreed to no sale of jet fuel to Myanmar’s military junta doing the air strikes and violence against the public.
  • China and Russia objected to the call of the UN Security Council to take action against Myanmar.
  • China vowed for the continuous support from the constructive perspective for the stability of Rakhine State as soon as possible.
  • The UNICEF reported that 188 people had lost lives and 864 others had been injured in Myanmar due to the landmines and other explosives, accounting for 270% of the casualties and causing the increase by three times.
  • In Sagaing Region, a combined force of local PDFs conducted bomb attacks via drone on No. (10) Military Training School and the Police Officers’ Housing in Ayadaw.
  • In Monywa, the PDFs attacked the gate of the junta’s Pyusawti Militia near the bus terminal.
  • In Sagaing Township, local PDF warned the public not to travel on Sagaing-Minkun Road in the nighttime as the military junta has been doing the arrest for military service.
  • In Salingyi Township, a social group donated the 192nd meal to the displaced people.
  • In Yinmabin Township, a local rally named ‘Let’s Never Get Back in This Revolution’ marched against the military dictatorship on Friday.
  • In Yangon, the youth from the General Strike placed the stickers against the junta’s Military Service Law on the YBS buses on Friday morning.
  • In Kyaikto Township of Mon State, there was an attack via drone on the junta’s inspection gate on Moatpalin Crossroads.
  • In Kawkarait, Myawaddy and Thingan Nyinaung in Karen State, there were heavy battles on Friday. Reportedly, the military junta had been using air support, heavy weapons and drones.
  • In Mahar Aung Myay Township of Mandalay Region, there was a bomb explosion at the junta’s Immigration Office at about 12:00 pm Friday. Reportedly, nine people were injured.
  • In Kyaukse Township, Aung Thabyay LPDF completed their basic military training Batch (2) on Thursday.
  • With the support of the Way Musical Film, Youths for Community-YfC Myaung constructed a rural-based sports ground.
  • On behalf of the MTYC, Burma Liberation Democratic Front -BLDF donated rice and oil to the displaced people in Kani Township.

Ethnic Armed Organizations (EAOs)

  • Chin National Defence Force completed their military training Batch (38).
  • In Kachin State, Kachin Independence Army placed the official letters that they had seized the governmental offices in Lweje- a town on China-Myanmar border. Reportedly, they got started with the KIA’s administration.
  • In Nyaunglebin District under Karen National Union, Karen National Liberation Army (8) burnt the drugs they had confiscated on Wednesday.

The Military Council

  • Regarding the drone attacks on Naypyitaw, the military junta instructed for the investigation and report, the review of jammers for air defense and the constant upgrade not to face the security leak again.
  • Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar Mr. Chen Hai met with some of the former authorities including the former military dictator U Than Shwe.
  • As the performance in the music video ‘Beer Belly’ was against Myanmar’s culture, there were legal actions against the broadcasters and the artists under the Section (33) of Electronic Communication Law at Bahan Myoma Police Station.
  • The MRTV will broadcast the live performance of Thingyan songs at Thingyan pandals and Naypyitaw Walking Thingyan.
  • The junta’s Minister of Construction met with the responsible personnel of China International Trust and Investment Corporation (CITIC) Group Myanmar Co.,Ltd.
  • The junta’s Minister of Hotel and Tourism provided certificates of honor and food to the junta armed forces for their defense and security duty.

Summary on 5 April

  • To protect their own self-interest, China has been openly interfering with Myanmar’s affairs, supporting and protecting the military junta directly and indirectly.
  • With the abuse of power, the military junta forced the artists to permit the free use of Thingyan songs free of charge in their Thingyan celebration, instead of making a request.
