Two Myanmar junta checkpoints attacked in Pakokku Town, Magway Region

Defence forces attacked two junta checkpoints causing many junta casualties, in Pakokku Town, Magway Region, on 12 May, according to local defence forces.

Defence forces attacked the Theda Security Checkpoint on Theda Street in Pakokku Town with small arms and killed a junta soldier at 10:00 am on 12 May, according to the PKU People’s Defence Force (PDF).

Later the same day, at 12:25 pm, defence forces dropped four bombs from drones onto the Pakokku Industrial Zone Security Checkpoint injuring many junta soldiers, according to PKU PDF.

Details of casualties and injuries suffered by the junta in the two attacks are still unknown. Following the attacks residents reported increased junta activity and patrols in the areas of the attacks.

The checkpoint attacks were carried out by PKU PDF, Yesagyo Revolution Group (YRG), and King Cobra forces based in Sagaing Region.

There are at least 10 junta security checkpoints in Pakokku Town and the soldiers manning them often assault, interrogate and extort money from passing people.
