The Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) announced a significant seizure of over 350 weapons and ammunition following the capture of the Light Infantry Battalion-115 of the Myanmar junta in Nawnghkio town, northern Shan State.

The capture of the battalion position took place on 26 June, with the TNLA revealing the extent of their seized ammunition on 28 June.

Among the captured ammunition are 349 firearms, including MA-1, MA-2, and MA-3 rifles, RPG launchers, 60 mm mortars, and various medium and small machine guns. Photographic evidence of these weapons has been released by the TNLA.

In addition to the firearms, the TNLA seized over 50,000 bullets, more than 500 RPG rounds, bombs, mines, and communication devices. The operation also led to the capture of over 100 additional weapons from the Gantkaw junta camp and other military installations in Nawnghkio Township.

A ground military source said, “There are so many weapons that we have to transport them by car.”

Local residents have reported that the military junta has been conducting airstrikes in Nawnghkio town since 6:00 am on 28 June.

“Starting at 6:00 am, the bombs continued to drop, with fighter jets. People are very concerned,” a local resident said.

The capture of the Light Infantry Battalion-115 position is part of what is considered to be the second wave of Operation 1027 that began on 25 June in Nawnghkio, northern Shan State. Over the course of three days, the TNLA, along with MDY-PDF and allied forces, have occupied key locations, including the township police station, departmental offices, the Light Infantry Battalion-115, and the Missile Battalion (606).
