Spring Revolution Daily News for 7 April 2024

The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • Acting President of the NUG Duwa Lashi La stated that the people have witnessed the current losses of the military junta. He also called for fighting until the end of the Spring Revolution, making a good transformation beyond the revolution and trying hard with political cautiousness not to face new armed conflicts.
  • On Friday, Spring Development Bank announced that they would share 100% of all their profits with those holding SDB tokens.
  • In the second People’s Conference of the National Unity Consultative Council (NUCC), a total of 248 representatives from 5 Spring Revolution forces and other anti-junta armed forces as well as distinguished guests and observers were present.
  • In Taungoo Township of Bago Region, the People’s Defence Force (PDF) attacked the junta troops invading Tegyi Village. Reportedly, two junta soldiers died.

Revolution Activities

  • On Friday, the Secretary General of the United Nations stated that Ms. Julie Bishop from Australia had been appointed to be the Special Envoy of the UN to Myanmar.
  • In Thingyan, the former political prisoners will broadcast live their performance of slogans for the revolution.
  • According to Political Prisoners’ Network Myanmar, a political prisoner lost their life five days after being beaten by a prison supervisor in Myingyan Prison of Mandalay Region.
  • In Yesagyo of Magway Region, a junta soldier, along with weapons, defected to local PDF. Reportedly, he was rewarded 50 lakh MMK.
  • Starting from Saturday afternoon, there has been telecommunication and internet blackout in Myawaddy, a key town in the border trade between Myanmar and Thailand.
  • In Tanintharyi Township of Tanintharyi Region, Myeik District PDFs attacked the junta’s Ka-Ma-Ya (561) for two consecutive days.
  • In Wandwin Township of Mandalay Region, there was a mine attack on a car of the junta police on patrol. Reportedly, four policemen including the Township Police Officer died.
  • In Yinmabin Township of Sagaing Region, thousands of local people from over 12 villages have had to run away due to the invasion of the junta army in the area. Reportedly, they are in need of food.
  • In Minkin Township, the education teams and the armed forces conducted a RWCT Teacher training course for teachers for two weeks.
  • In Yinmabin Township, a rally of Taung Pu Thway, along with the public and students, protested against the junta’s Military Service Law.

Ethnic Armed Organizations (EAOs)

  • In Karen State, Karen National Liberation Army took complete control of Thingan Nyinaung under the junta’s Southeast Military Headquarters on the border of Myawaddy Township and Kawkarait Township.
  • In Namkham Township of Ta’ang State Brigade (1), the PSLF/ TNLA met with the public to be able to reopen schools in the area.
  • On Saturday, the KNLA gained control of the junta’s Thingan Nyinaung Strategic Camp and Ka-Ma-Ya (357).
  • In Rakhine State, the Arakan Army took complete control of the junta’s Ka-Ma-Ya (546) based in Buthitaung at about 8:00 am Friday.
  • According to the AA on Saturday, over 80 junta soldiers died in the battle to seize the junta’s Ka-Ma-Ya (564) in Buthitaung Township.
  • In Myawaddy Township of Karen State, the junta’s Ka-Ma-Ya (357), the last camp in Thingan Nyinaung, raised the white flag and gave up arms on Saturday morning.

The Military Council

  • At the time of a great loss in Kachin State with many local battles, the military junta removed the two top army officers of the Northern Military Headquarters.
  • In Tachileik Township of Shan State, the junta leader was present at the funeral of Two Dragon Sayardaw. After the leakage of his security measures, he headed back to Naypyitaw on the same day.
  • The junta’s Private School Supervisory Team announced that there would be action against private schools and language training schools which fail to register.
  • According to the junta’s Labor Minister, over 160,000 Myanmar workers in Thailand have been issued Certificate of Identity.
  • The junta’s Yangon City Development Committee discussed with GES Co., Ltd from Korea about the production of electricity via generators using clean methane derived from garbage.

Summary on 7 April

  • Not only in the northern part but also in the southern part of Rakhine State, the revolution forces have been able to seize the junta’s units and strategic camps. They might also be able to take control of more towns. In addition, they have confiscated a large number of weapons.
