Spring Revolution Daily News for 9 April 2024

The National Unity Government (NUG)

· According to Sagaing Regional Ministry of Home Affairs-NUG, a university student from Kyaukse of Mandalay Region, who had been forced to join the junta army, brought weapons and defected to Kawlin People’s Defence Force.

· In Pyin Oo Lwin of Mandalay Region, the PDF attacked with 107mm grenades the premises of the junta’s Defence Service Academy on Monday morning.

· No. (1) Sagaing PDF announced that they had seized the four camps of over 300 junta soldiers and Pyusawti members in local villages of Hommalin Township.

· In Iowa State of the United States, an event was held on Saturday in commemoration of Kayan National Day. Present on the occasion was the Chair of Committee Representing Pyitaungsu Hluttaw, along with some Deputy Ministers of the NUG.

Revolution Activities

· In Myingyan Township of Mandalay Region, the junta armed forces invaded Yathar Village and Fayin Village. They also killed three local men and set fire to many houses.

· The Prime Minister of Thailand told Reuters that the military junta, which had seized power by force in 2021, has become weak and now a good time to hold discussions with Myanmar.

· In Wetlet Township of Sagaing Region, the junta army conducted a bomb attack via drone, injuring seven people including a child.

· In Kani Township, local and international doners provided food items to the displaced people.

· In Yinmabin Township and Salingyi Township, a social group supported food to the displaced people.

· In Yinmabin Township, a combined rally of Taung Pu Thway and People’s Strength protested against the junta’s Military Service Law.

· In Yinmabin Township, a social group provided rice and oil to the displaced people.

· According to Thai PBS, the plan was cancelled to fetch the junta soldiers and the families who had given up arms via Mae Sot of Thailand.

· Two years ago, a U.S oil company named Chevron announced that they would leave Myanmar. Recently, they have sold all their shares in Yadanar Gas Project and completely left the country.

· EDOTCO Myanmar, owned mostly by Axiata from Malaysia, stated that they had agreed to sell the company for 150 million USD.

· In Mon State, the members of Mon State Liberation Army and Mon people from Norway and Canada donated 5,703,490 MMK to the IDP Camp in Damatha Village.

Ethnic Armed Organizations (EAOs)

· Chin State Police Force conducted training for township police officers and successfully completed it.

· On Sunday, Mon State Revolution Force, Mon State Defence Force and Mon State Federal Council released a joint statement that they would make some political and military cooperation to fight the forms of the dictatorship including the military one.

· In Rakhine State, the Arakan Army arrested the injured Second Commander of the junta’s Ka-Ma-Ya (565) based in Buthitaung. Reportedly, they have provided him with medical treatment.

· Karen National Union has detained hundreds of junta soldiers who gave up arms in the battles in Thingan Nyinaung. They announced that they would not hand them over to the military junta without them wanting to go of their own free will.

· The HDCO of the ULA stated on Wednesday that 179 civilians have lost lives and 468 others have been injured in Rakhine State with local battles for more than four months.

· In Sisai Township, there was fighting between the junta army and Pa-O National Liberation Army on Sunday. Reportedly, there were casualties among the junta soldiers.

The Military Council

· On the KIC Media, the strategist officer of Thingan Nyinaung, who had given up arms in Karen State, said that he had saved hundreds of lives.

· At the time of military tension in Myawaddy, a border trade town, a civilian passenger plane sent by the military junta landed at Mae Sot Airport on Sunday night and left after one and a half hours.

· According to the junta’s Regional Government, some sections of Sule Pagoda Road would be temporarily closed off from 13 to 16 April in Thingyan.

· The junta’s Yangon Regional Government stated that they would inspect the drivers of the motor vehicles with alcohol tester during Thingyan and there would be effective action against those violating the rule.

· In North Okkalapa Township, a 4-storey building is being constructed as an operation theater complex.

Summary on 9 April

· The military junta has been in the position of facing loss in every battle. They have had to let go of border trade towns. In addition, they have been defamed in the international community. Even the neighbouring countries looks down on the junta army, which tends to brag about their international standard military preparedness.
