Concerts held in India to raise money for injured Chin fighters

A series of fundraising concerts in India’s Mizoram State have been organised to raise funds for medical supplies to treat injured Chinland People’s Defence Force (PDF) fighters.

The series of concerts have been organised by Network Unity Association, Mizoram (NUA), a civil society organisation based in Aizawl, the capital of India’s Mizoram State, that helps Chin people and other refugees from Myanmar in Mizoram State. The NUA also sends medical supplies and other assistance to Chin defence forces fighting the junta in Myanmar.

The fundraising concerts, called ‘Embracing Unity with Chin Artists’ will be held over a week from 7 April in Mizoram State, India. The first concert was on 7 April at 8:00 pm in Aizawl.

Famous Chin singers and musicians from Chin State will perform at the concerts. The concerts will also be live-streamed on the Chin Tube Channel on Facebook along with details of how people in different countries can donate.

The money raised by the concerts will be given to injured Chin defence force fighters from eight towns in Chin State.

Frontline fighters for the Chinland People’s Defence Force (PDF) are in urgent need of medical supplies, according to the NUA.

“The Chin resistance soldiers who have been severely wounded by heavy artillery or landmines require immediate life-saving medication, such as blood thinners. However, the specific medication needed varies depending on the circumstances, making it challenging to specify [what is needed]”, said an official from the Network Unity Association, Mizoram (NUA).

Currently, there is not enough funding to carry out all the medical treatment necessary. Though there are organisations that help treat the injured they do not have the necessary drugs and medicine to treat everyone, particularly those who have lost limbs and need long-term support
