Chin revolutionary forces took control of Kyin Dwe Town in Kanpetlet Township, Chin State on 29 April.

“We successfully took control of Kyin Dwe Town on 29 April. A formal announcement will be made shortly,” said a representative of the Chin Brothers Force, one of the groups involved in the takeover of the town.

A combined force of the Chin Defence Force (CDF) and Chin people’s defence forces (PDFs) first attacked the junta forces holding Kyin Dwe Town on 22 December 2023. They were initially unsuccessful in their attempt to take control of the town. Despite this, they continued launching attacks until March 2024 without success.

Then on 7 March 2024 the forces attacking Kyin Dwe Town were joined by soldiers from the Chin Brothers Force and the Arakan Army (AA). With the help of these reinforcements Kyin Dwe Town finally fell to the combined revolutionary forces on 26 April.

According to the Chin Brothers Force Kyin Dwe is a strategically significant town, so the junta fiercely defended it by bringing in reinforcements and launching airstrikes.

The Chin Brothers Force is reportedly made up of the Zomi Federal Union (ZFU), the Chin National Organization (CNO), the Chin National Council – Mindat, the Maraland Territorial Council (MTC), the Chin Defence Force – Kanpetlet, and the Chinland Defence Force – Matupi.
