Spring Revolution Daily News for 24 May 2024

The National Unity Government (NUG)

· Under Ministry of Education-NUG, Tanintharyi Township Education Board conducted a refresher course for primary school teachers.

· On Wednesday, there was a meeting between the NUG Central Committee on the Interim Public’s Administration and Township People’s Administration from Mandalay Region and Magway Region.

· In Myinmu Township of Sagaing Region, Monywa District People’s Defence Force (11) conducted a mine attack on a junta convoy carrying copper.

Revolution Activities

· On Thursday, two Spring Revolution forces announced that they stand with the Arakan Army (AA) in the current situation of Rakhine State.

· In Salingyi Township of Sagaing Region, a social group, on behalf of donors, provided a meal to the people from 3 IDP camps.

· In Pale Township, a social group donated medicines for the healthcare of more than 250 displaced people.

· In Salingyi Township, a combined rally of villages on Chindwin River Banks and local people carried out an anti-junta movement while watering the Banyan tree on Kasone Full Moon Day.

· In Beelin Township of Mon State, Masaw Bridge on Yangon-Mawlamyein Road was blown up. Reportedly, the bridge collapsed, killing a passer-by and injuring 3 others.

· Miss Grand International announced that they had cancelled the 2024 contest, which had been planned to be organized in Myanmar. They reasoned that international pageants would not take part over security concerns due to lack of peace and the civil war in Myanmar.

· According to Human Rights Watch, a Japanese construction company Yokogawa Bridge Corp has been arranging for the payment of a bridge project by the junta’s MEC Corporation in the upcoming week. In February, Japanese Prime Minister had mentioned about dealing with the aid flow of Japanese government to Myanmar’s Army.

Ethnic Armed Organizations (EAOs)

· In Namsam of Ta’ang Area in Northern Shan State, the Secretary General of Ta’ang National Liberation Army and the Second Commander in Chief of the Arakan Army were present at the event on completion of capacity building training for teachers by Ta’ang Education Council on Wednesday.

· Via social media, the Commander in Chief of the Arakan Army (AA) stated that he wished for bare-faced fake friends who give favour to donors rather than reasonable truths in Rakhine, to be happy in the political future they deserve.

· In Mantone Township of Northern Shan State, public property worth over 100 lakh MMK were damaged due to heavy rain and floods, according to Ta’ang National Liberation Army.

The Military Council

· In Paletwa Township of Chin State, the junta army conducted an aerial bombing via fighter jet on Tayun-I Village. Reportedly, 5 local people lost their lives.

· On Wednesday evening, the Banyan Tree Watering Ceremony was conducted in the compound of Maravijaya Buddha Image in Naypyidaw. Present on the occasion were the junta leader Min Aung Hlaing and his wife.

· Regarding the case of bidding for Residence (54) on University Avenue in Yangon, there will be another trial on 31 May.

· According to the junta Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation, they have been pushing for 10% of the country’s areas to be nature reserve. So far, they have fulfilled 6.42% with 59 nature reserves.
