A series of junta airstrikes killed seven civilians, including a school teacher in Singaung Village, Thandwe Township, Rakhine State on the afternoon of 4 June.

25-year-old school teacher Ma Chaw Hlaing, succumbed to her injuries whilst being transported to a hospital.

A local source said: “She lost her hand during the attack and bled to death because she was taken to Toungup local hospital, 40 miles away, instead of the closer Thandwe Hospital, just six miles from Singaung village, because the roads were blocked by Junta troops.”

The airstrikes followed intense fighting in the area of Singaung Village.

Local residents have reported that the Light Infantry Battalion-566 and Infantry Battalion 55 of the Military Council, based in Thandwe, are engaged in ongoing battles with the Arakan Army (AA).

The AA has announced plans to continue its offensive against the military council’s remaining camps in various townships, including Thandwe, Ann, Sittwe, Maungdaw, Kyaukphyu, Toungup, Gwa, and Munaun.
