The Myanmar military junta has recaptured the Taingen camp, previously held by the Joint Chin Defence Forces, in Tedim Township, southern Chin State, as confirmed by the Chin Defence Force (CDF/CDM SIYIN).

Around 5 pm on 20 June, a column of approximately 100 junta soldiers launched an assault on the Taingen village camp along the Tedim-Kalay road. Despite resistance from the defence forces, the camp was eventually overtaken due to the superior strength and firepower of the military.

“They started their assault at around 5 o’clock on 20 June. There were some initial gunfire exchanges. The junta’s forces used all their weapons, including heavy ones, firing towards the village,” said a CDF/CDM SIYIN official.

The Taingen military camp was initially captured by the Chinland Defence Joint Forces, including the CDF/CDM SIYIN, on 16 January, 2024.

However, it has now been recaptured by the military junta. Local residents reported that military troops also raided Taingen village on the morning of 21 June.

Taingen village, situated at the intersection of the Kalay-Tedim-Falam road, serves as a key transportation hub.

The presence of the junta’s military column has caused residents from villages along the Tedim-Kalay road to flee to the jungles and other nearby villages, fearing further raids.

The Military Council had previously recaptured the Kennedy peak outpost in Tedim Township, which was occupied by PDF Zoland, on 18 June.
