Spring Revolution Daily News for 23 December 2023

The National Unity Government (NUG)

· At 3:00 pm Thursday, there was a meeting between Ministry of Home Affairs and Immigration- NUG and District People’s Administration.

· The Union Prime Minister of the NUG stated that it is necessary to convey the message widely so that the international community can get to know more about the collective effort and action of the revolution forces.

Revolution Activities

· In Mizoram State of India, Young Mizo Association (YMA) provided food worth 400,000 rupees to 8 Myanmar refugee camps as Christmas presents on Friday.

· On Thursday, Amnesty International called for an investigation of lawless killings and war crimes by the junta armed forces over the period of Operation 1027.

· In Mintone Township of Magwe Region, Thayet District PDF attacked via mine and ammunitions on the junta army invading the area.

· In the south of Gantgaw Township, PDF attacked and took control of the junta’s Myitthase Camp on Friday morning.

· In Chaung-U Township of Sagaing Region, the junta army set fire to two local villages. In addition, they fired heavy weapons, injuring some people.

· In Salingyi Township, a combined rally of Yangon, Mandalay and Monywa University Students Union marched against the military dictatorship on Thursday.

· Near the town of Wetlet, there was a battle between the junta army and local PDF for two hours. Reportedly, there were some casualties.

· The Brave Warriors for Myanmar (BWM) conducted an attack via 107mm grenade at the junta’s Mid-Regional Military Headquarters in the compound of Mandalay Palace. In the incident, the residence of the regional commander and the housing of women soldiers were directly hit. There were a large number of injured.

Ethnic Armed Organizations (EAOs)

· According to Karen National Union (Duplaya District), 5 junta soldiers including a captain from the junta army Ka-Ma-Ya (102) defected to the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA), along with their weapons.

· In Pauktaw of Rakhine State, there has been fighting in town. The Arakan Army (AA) attacked 3 military ships on the way to strengthen their forces. According to the Northern Alliance, one of the vessels was hit and the junta soldiers retreated.

· On the border of Chin State and Magwe Region, 10 junta soldiers died, 6 others including a captain was caught alive and 32 weapons were confiscated by CDF Hakha in a battle to seize Bonezone Camp.

· On Thursday, the Three Brotherhood of Northern Alliance stated that Operation 1027 had reached the 56th day and it was a pleasant sight for the whole public and the revolution forces to see the operation turning into a harmonious operation throughout the country.

· The Deputy Commander in Chief of Karenni Nationalities Defence Force (KNDF) warned the junta armed forces to choose destruction or defection. He added that the junta soldiers who want to be destroyed are to get ready.

· In Northern Shan State, the members of Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army (MNDAA) took the displaced people from Muse 105 Mile to safe places.

The Military Council

· Dr. Soe Win, the junta Minister of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement, said that Myanmar allocated 0.99% of the budget for social security.

· According to the junta Ministry of Education, the private school have been allowed to open with 5-year license upon the completion of registration with full documents in accordance with the new private education law.

· According to the junta Ministry of Labour, the sending of MOU workers to Thailand has been suspended on Myawaddy-Mae Sot Road. Reportedly, they have been discussing to send them by air.

· In Yangon and Mandalay, 16 fuel oil stations were revoked license for a specified period of time for not selling despite the product in stock, transporting fuel oil by bowsers to other places without permit and overcharging than the fixed price.

· The junta leader Min Aung Hlaing claimed that Withama Fever Medicine by the Department of Traditional Medicine has the ability to cure the symptoms of COVID-19 and thus, it must be arranged to export the product.

Summary on 23 December

· Saying that Myanmar traditional medicine can cure COVID-19, the junta leader advised the export of that medicine. If it were true, there would be no need to buy or ask for donations of the COVID-19 medications from other countries. In reality, the people have to rely on foreign medicines.

· The revolution forces have warned the junta soldiers, who have been disorganized, to give up arms. At such time, the junta soldiers can survive if they join the public. Or else they will lose lives and their families will be disgraced among the public if they just resist and protect the interest of Min Aung Hlaing.
