Spring Revolution Daily News for 30 December 2023

The National Unity Government (NUG)

· On Thursday, there was a meeting between the NUG Central Committee on the Interim Public’s Administration and District People’s Administration from Sagaing Region and Magwe Region.

· At 5:00 pm on Sunday 31 December, a documentary named ‘Magwe Thu Tarlabaw’ will be broadcast on the Facebook page of Ministry of Women, Youth and Children-NUG and on Public Voice Television.

· The PDF released a video in which they were raising the public’s revolution flag at the town administration office in Shwe Pyi Aye of Hommalin Township in Sagaing Region.

· Ministry of Women, Youth and Children-NUG provided support to pregnant women and children under the age of 2 among the fire victims of 6 local villages in Khin-U Township of Sagaing Region.

· In the meeting of the NUG Central Committee on the Interim Public Administration, Union Prime Minister congratulated the government for more cooperation with the ethnic alliance in 2023 and a recognition of the significant results obtained in terms of military affairs.

Revolution Activities

· In Thabaitgyin Township of Mandalay Region, the junta army conducted an aerial bombing on the neighborhood of Chaunggyi Village and Ngar Tant-I Village.

· Chinese Embassy in Myanmar warned Chinese people in Laukkaing to leave the area as soon as possible due to the deteriorating security concerns in Kokang Self-Administered Zone in Northern Shan State on the China-Myanmar border.

· In Pale Township of Sagaing Region, 7 more people ran away from Inmati Pyusawti Village and defected to the Township Public’s Administration.

· In Yesagyo Township of Magwe Region, Myingyan Black Tiger conducted an attack via mortar on the junta’s General Administration Department.

· In Pauk Township, a member of the junta’s Pyusawti Militia from Kokkusu Village defected to Myaing Township PDF, along with his weapons.

Ethnic Armed Organizations (EAOs)

· In Lashio of Ta’ang State in Northern Shan State, a junta soldier, along with a gun and over 200 bullets, defected to the Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) as he does not like the rule of the military junta.

· Between Nammatu and Hsipaw of Northern Shan State, the junta army blew up Moetay Bridge at about 5:00 pm Thursday.

· In Pekone Township on the border of Karenni State and Shan State, the revolution forces took control of the junta’s Shwe Pyi Aye Camp and Lwe Patar Camp on 23, 24 and 25 December. Reportedly, they also gained control of the entrance and exit to the town.

· In Kawkaraik District of Kayin State, a combination of the revolution forces gained complete control of Taunggyar-In Village Tract on Friday morning.

· In Mrauk-U Township of Rakhine State, the junta army continued to fire heavy weapons and conduct air strikes. According to the Three Brotherhood of Northern Alliance, 3 civilians lost lives and no less than 17 others were injured.

· On Thursday, the TNLA took control of Nammatu in Northern Shan State. Afterwards, the junta army carried out an aerial bombing on the town.

The Military Council

· In Kyauk Phyu Township of Rakhine State, some people among 60 locals including fishermen arrested by the military junta were freed after paying a fine worth 20,000MMK.

· After the Chinese Embassy in Myanmar warned Chinese people to leave Laukkaing as soon as possible, the junta army conducted aerial bombings on almost all places in town on Thursday night.

· In Yangon, the junta administrators forced the residents to raise the national flag without fail in front of the houses on Independence Day.

· The military junta claimed that they would crack down on the cyber fraud gangs, which their Border Guard Forces have been mainly involved, on the border of Thailand and Myanmar.

· According to the junta’s Trade Department, there will be legal action against the storage of goods without import license or permit at customs warehouses.

· According to the junta’s Trade Department, they will collect the registration fee of online sales from 30,000MMK to 70,000MMK, depending on the types of business.

· U Sit Aye, the Chair of the junta’s Anti-Corruption Commission, said that it was not possible to combat corruption with the commission alone.

Summary on 30 December

· As long as there is the military dictatorship, there will be cases of corruption and power abuse. In other words, the anti-corruption commission is just for show.
