Spring Revolution Daily News for 31 December 2023

The National Unity Government (NUG)

· From the fund earned through One Day Challenge Movement, Anti-Coup Committee (Korea) donated the South Korean won equivalent of 100,000USD to the NUG on 28 December.

· In Shwebo District of Sagaing Region, Khin-U Township Public’s Administration and Defence Force set up 131st Village Public’s Administration and 134th Village Defence Team in two villages.

· At 1:00 pm Friday, there was a meeting between the NUG Central Committee on the Interim Public’s Administration and Township People’s Administration from Sagaing Region.

Revolution Activities

· In Sagaing Region, there are tens of thousands of displaced people who have had to run away from the fighting in the town of Tigyaint. They have been in need of assistance as they have been away from home for two months.

· In Kani Township, local people conducted an anti-junta movement by hanging anti-junta signs on the streets and along Chindwin River Banks on Saturday morning.

· In Yinmabin Township, there was an attack via heavy weapons on the junta’s Police Force (28). Reportedly, there were casualties among the junta members.

· In Paletwa Township of Chin State, the Arakan Army (AA) attacked 2 junta camps. According to Vanglaini, about 150 junta soldiers from those camps ran away to Mizoram State of India.

· Among the funding earned from the documentary on the Spring Revolution history of Chin Nationals – “RAM RIAN (My Duty)”, the director donated 90 lakh MMK to the revolution forces.

· In Mandalay, a junta woman police officer was shot dead on Friday evening.

· In Yesagyo Township of Magwe Region, a junta policeman on duty in Meittila of Mandalay Region defected to the PDF, along with weapons.

Ethnic Armed Organizations (EAOs)

· The Deputy Chief Commander of Kawthoolei Army died of old age on Friday.

· In Nammatu Town of Northern Shan State, the junta army conducted an air strike on Friday evening. According to Ta’ang National Liberation Army, a school teacher lost his life and 4 people got injured.

· In Kyankhine Township of Ayeyarwaddy Region, a local rally protested against the military dictatorship on Friday night.

· In Mrauk-U Township of Rakhine State, the AA took control of Myaung Bway Police Station, a militarily strategic location. They then raised the AA Flag there.

· In Kutkhine Township of Northern Shan State, Kachin Independence Army attacked the junta army Ka-Ma-Ya (123) based in Namphetkar on Friday. Reportedly, there has been heavy fighting.

· At the time of the AA taking control of the junta camps one after another, the junta army has continued to conduct attacks targeting local people.

The Military Council

· According to local people, the junta army has been setting up a camp in Lone Shar Yan Village of Putao Township in Kachin State.

· According to the staff of Mandalay Train Station, they will resume their service of No. (3) and No. (4) Yangon-Mandalay Trains, which have been suspended for not being able to guarantee security, starting on 30 December.

· On 28 December, the junta Trade Department announced that they would collect the registration fee from 30,000MMK to 70,000MMK from online sales since January 2024.

· In Kutkhine Town of Northern Shan State, the junta army has been no longer been at the Strategic Hill Camp. Instead, they have instructed Kaung Kha Militia to station there.

· In some townships of Yangon Region, the military junta has instructed no play of fire crackers on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.

· According to the junta Immigration Minister U Myint Kyaing, they have been collecting the national population census without any international aid. They will also compare it with the population list collected on the ground to help with the process of voter list.

· The junta Ministry of Hotel and Tourism announced that they would collect the local traveler survey at the local attractions, entrances, exits and train stations in 19 towns of the country.

Summary on 31 December

· Operation (1027) by the Three Brotherhood of Northern Alliance is still under great momentum. They have been able to take control of at least 1 to 3 junta camps per week.

· At the time of international sanctions due to the coup, the military junta has been anticipating to gain international aid for their superficial election. It highlights their stupidity.
