Spring Revolution Daily News for 13 May 2024

The National Unity Government (NUG)

· In a liberated area of Bago Region, Thanutpin Township People’s Defence Force (PDF) completed their basic military training Batch (1) on Saturday.

· In Khin-U Township of Sagaing Region, a local transformer destroyed by the junta’s Ministry of Electricity and Energy was replaced with a new one supported by the NUG. Reportedly, it was opened in a ceremony.

· In Bago Region, Kawa Township PDF has been conducting their basic military training Batch (5) since 5 May.

· According to Ministry of Defence-NUG on Sunday, they have been able to seize the town of Myothit in Tamu Township of Sagaing Region.

· In the battle to seize Myothit, 21 junta policemen gave up arms.

· In Khin-U Township of Sagaing Region, the military junta has cut electricity to 38 villages. According to Local Public’s Administration, the resistance have been able to supply power to 14 villages.

Revolution Activities

· On Sunday, the Working Committee on Women and Children under All Burma Students’ Democratic Front (ABSDF) opened their first training on fabric painting.

· In Karen State, 3 soldiers from the junta’s Ka-La-Ya (230) based in Kawkarait Township were sent to a temporary refuge by the People’s Destination.

· In the west of Myinmu Township in Sagaing Region, the junta army invaded Latoattaw Village and killed 32 people including 10 members of Union Solidarity and Development Party (USDP).

· In Myinmu Township, there was an attack via mines and mortars on a convoy of copper trucks and army vehicles.

· As a 1113-day protest, a combined rally of Salingyi and Yinmabin conducted an anti-junta movement.

· The two women from Octopus Social Youth were caught for conducting non-violent protests and movements in Yangon. Afterwards, their associates have been arrested.

· In Kachin State, there were exchanges of fire among the junta army officers. Reportedly, two of them were injured.

· In Mahar Aung Myay Township of Mandalay Region, the administration office of Mahar Myaing Ward (2), which had been recruiting for the military service by force, was blown up.

· In Myingyan Township of Mandalay Region, local people welcomed the PDFs on their way back after attacking and seizing the camp of Pyusawti Militia in Sone Village. Reportedly, their names were listed and they were threatened by the junta army.

· In Thailand, there was a football match to raise funds for the revolution and support the PDFs in Myanmar.

· In San Francisco of the United States, Free Burma Action Committee-Northern California conducted a 131st movement against Myanmar’s military dictatorship.

· In Yinmabin Township, a rally named Daung Thway Ni with the Flag of Victory led a march against the military dictatorship on Saturday.

Ethnic Armed Organizations (EAOs)

· In Karenni State, Karenni Nationalities Defence Force set up KNDF B-28.

· On the border of Tanintharyi and Boatpyin in Tanintharyi Region, a combined force of Karen National Liberation Army took complete control of the junta’s 1020 Hill Camp beside No. (8) Road on Saturday.

· The members of Matupi Chinland Defence Force were welcomed by the public and their peers on the way back after seizing the town of Kyin Dway.

The Military Council

· In Yaw Area, the junta’s Ka-Ma-Ya (50) based in Gantgaw shot mortars, injuring 6 people including some children. Reportedly, a victim has had to receive emergency medical treatment.

· Pa-O National Organization, a militia under the military junta, made position changes within their force, including the promotion to the sons of U Aung Kham Ti, former leader of the organization.

· According to the junta Ministry of Labour, there would be serious action against changing numbers dishonestly in the workers’ list by overseas employment agencies for the reduction in taxes.

· The junta leader Min Aung Hlaing instructed the junta soldiers from Triangle Military Region to take proactive action for local safety and stability.

· In Mayangone Township of Yangon Region, the junta armed forces searched a gambling event including Chinese citizens in a hotel.

· According to the junta propaganda team, the military training Batch (2) has been opened in respective states and regions.

Summary on 13 May

· With the depletion of human resources, the military junta has had to recruit their forces by using a variety of dirty tricks. On the other hand, there have been more and more young people in the revolution forces and they have had to set up more units. The military junta only has power through guns in their hand, but no influence on the people. They and their supporters will be uprooted on the day when those guns fall out of their hands.
