Spring Revolution Daily News for 8 March 2024

The National Unity Government (NUG)

· Along with the Kachin Independence Army, the People’s Defence Force under the NUG and Arakan Army have been fighting the junta army camps in Winemaw Township and Dawphoneyan Township since 6:00 am Thursday.

· On Wednesday, Mobye PDF completed their refreshers’ course and basic military training. The Ministry of Defence-NUG released photos.

· The Special Operation Force of the Southern Military Region under Ministry of Defence-NUG released a video of their physical training (Batch 5).

· At 1:00 pm Wednesday, there was a meeting between the Central Committee on the Interim Public Administration-NUG and Township People’s Administration from Mandalay Region and Magway Region.

· The Ministry of Human Rights-NUG stated that they had discussed with the United Nations (UN) High Commissioner for Human Rights in regards to the human rights violations of the junta army including their inhumane killings.

Revolution Activities

· In Titain Township of Northern Chin State, a car carrying displaced people turned over in Lanzan Village. Reportedly, two people lost their lives and 17 others were injured.

· The ASEAN-Australia Summit released a statement strongly condemning the violence in Myanmar. They also called for an immediate stop to such violent activities.

· The Arakan Army has been approaching Sittway. In the report by a UN Agency on 4 March, the military junta has strengthened their heavy weapons.

· After the junta’s recruitment by force, some local people from villages have had to run away in Bago Region and Tanintharyi Region.

· In Salingyi Township of Sagaing Region, the local public’s administration and the strike committee conducted an anti-junta public talk in commemoration of International Women’s Day.

· In Yinmabin Township, there was a health talk, along with healthcare service, at the interim school of the NUG.

· A social group of the upcountry supported rations and medicines for the members of No. (9) Yinmabin District PDF.

· In Kyungsu Township of Tanintharyi Region, there were attacks on the junta army and Pyusawti Militia in Joetaung Village.

· In Longlone Township, the LLPDF Medical Team provided healthcare to the displaced people and the members of the revolution forces.

Ethnic Armed Organizations (EAOs)

· Starting from Thursday morning, the KIA and the PDF have conducted simultaneous attacks on the junta camps along Myitkyina-Bamaw Road near Laiza, the Headquarters of Kachin Independence Army.

· The spokesperson of Arakan Army stated that they would absolutely take revenge on the military junta if they kill Rakhine youth arrested unjustly.

The Military Council

· In Mandalay, the junta administrators summoned every household for meetings, saying that every eligible one must serve military duty.

· In Sagaing, the military junta arrested those who had killed a bad man named Kyaw Win Sein in Kyimyindine Township of Yangon Region.

· In Northern Gantgaw Township and Southern Kalay Township, the military junta has been providing special commando training to about 200 students of Grade (9) and Grade (11) from 12 local villages.

· With the aid of China, the construction of Myanmar’s Center for Disease Control and the training school have completed 93%.

· The junta Minister of Hotel and Tourism instructed for online marketing and promotion of the sector.

· According to the junta Ministry of Foreign Affairs, a meeting was conducted via video conferencing regarding the economic matters, travel and tourism, and investment cooperations between East Asia and Latin America.

Summary on 8 March

· In addition to frequent breaking of the ceasefire agreement, the military junta has been preparing to fight to get back the towns which they have lost. At such time, the alliance led by the KIA started their offensive against the junta army camps. On the other hand, the AA has been near the capital of Rakhine State. Therefore, the military junta has been in military hardships.
