Spring Revolution Daily News for 27 January 2024

The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • In Mawlight Township of Sagaing Region, Local Public’s Administration went to a village with difficult transportation and provided the displaced people with medical treatment and support on 21 January.
  • Union Prime Minister of the NUG Man Win Khine Than instructed again for collecting the taxes precisely in townships and being thrifty with the spending. He also said that the momentum of the warfare must be raised, along with more systematic administration.
  • On Thursday, there was a meeting between the NUG Central Committee on the Interim Public’s Administration and District People’s Administration from Sagaing Region and Magwe Region.
  • Ministry of Defence-NUG announced on Thursday that Yangon Regional PDF (5101) had been equipped with arms.

Revolution Activities

  • In Magwe Region, there was an attack on two junta policemen in the compound of Technological University near Pakkoku-Yesagyo Road.
  • On 22 January, Ma Su May Aung, a Master Degree student and political prisoner in Magwe Prison, passed away due to inadequate healthcare.
  • In Myaing Township of Magwe Region, local PDFs have been attacking Kyaukkwet Oil Field Well (2) for two consecutive days.
  • In Kyankhine Township of Ayeyarwady Region, a local rally protested against the military dictatorship on Thursday night.
  • In Taungoo Township of Bago Region, not only men but also women have been threatened to join the militia.
  • Somewhere in Kandawgyi Park in Yangon, young revolutionists hung an anti-junta banner in commemoration of the two-year anniversary of the founding of Owl Community.
  • In Monywa Township of Sagaing Region, nearly 20 PDFs attacked the junta’s Nyaung Phyubin Police Station. Reportedly, they had a battle for over an hour.
  • Even amidst security concerns due to the invasion of the junta army in Yinmabin Township, a local rally named ‘Let’s never get back in this revolution’ marched against the military dictatorship on Friday.
  • In Karenni State, the junta army dropped bombs via drone on the town of Loikaw. Reportedly, the 2-storey building of the local market was burnt to ashes.

Ethnic Armed Organizations (EAOs)

  • With a great loss in military affairs, the junta armed forces have been conducting aerial bombings on the towns of Paukdaw and Yanbywe in Rakhine State.
  • In Nyaunglebin District under Karen National Union, some more civilians have lost lives recently due to heavy weapons fired by the junta army in Mone Township and Kyaukgyi Township.
  • In Moegok Township of Mandalay Region, the junta army invaded Pain Pyit Village where the camp of Ta’ang National Liberation Army is situated. Reportedly, there was a clash in the local area.
  • In four villages of Sisai Township in Southern Shan State, the junta armed forces carried out air strikes, damaging public property, according to Pa-O National Liberation Army.

The Military Council

  • In Mancy Township of Kachin State, China transferred back 57 junta soldiers who had swum across the border to China in the battle to seize Manwinegyi.
  • The junta Minister of Border Affairs and Chinese Ambassador discussed the activities for the stability and development of the border area between the two countries.
  • For the stability on the border, Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar and the junta’s Minister of Foreign Affairs had a meeting in Naypyidaw.
  • In the junta propaganda newspapers, it was mentioned that all the boards of trustee of the pagodas from all over the country have come and paid respect to the Mara Vijaya Buddha Image in Naypyidaw.
  • Upon the information of illegal arrival of Chinese citizens in Namsam of Shan State, the junta armed forces carried out surprise checks. Reportedly, they caught a total of 1038 Chinese people; 1002 men and 36 women staying illegally in three locations of the area.

  • With a great loss on the battlefields, the military junta has had to let go of their areas. As usual, they have been destroying the towns and villages by burning.
