Spring Revolution Daily News for 19 March 2024

The National Unity Government (NUG)

· In Saw Township of Magway Region, two junta soldiers, along with weapons, defected to No. (3) Gantgaw District PDF.

· On 15 March, No. (19) Pakkoku District PDF completed their basic military training Batch (14).

· On Sunday morning, there was a meeting between the NUG Central Committee on the Interim Public’s Administration and Township People’s Administration from Tanintharyi Region, Ayeyarwady Region and Bago Region.

Revolution Activities

· As a 1089-day protest, a combined rally of Salingyi and Yinmabin in Sagaing Region expressed their objection to the military dictatorship in a local village on Monday.

· In Yinmabin Township, a rally named ‘Let’s Never Get Back in This Revolution’ marched against the military dictatorship on Monday.

· In the south of Kalay Township, the junta army conducted a bomb attack via drone while the revolution forces were rescuing the displaced people on Sunday afternoon. Consequently, a little girl aged four and a PDF member lost their lives.

· In Salingyi Township, a combined rally protested against the unjust Military Service Law.

· On Monday, Dibeyin Township People’s Administration released the photo records of all their activities on the ground.

· On Sunday, 12 revolution forces based in Mandalay Region warned that they have been constantly watching those helping for the operation of the junta’s Military Service Law.

· In Natoegyi Township of Mandalay Region, there was a bomb attack via drone on junta troops invading Nabethar Village on Saturday afternoon. Reportedly, a junta policeman died.

· In Magway Region, a junta soldier, along with weapons, defected to Pakkoku PDF on Saturday. Reportedly, he was rewarded 50 lakh MMK.

· In Yesagyo, there were explosions in town on Monday morning. Reportedly, the junta army fired heavy weapons as well.

· In Minhla Township of Bago Region, the junta army conducted aerial attacks for five days, starting on 13 March. Reportedly, 110 houses in Haiyu Village and public buildings were damaged.

· In Mindat Township of Chin State, the junta army carried out aerial bombings on No. (3) Area from 15 to 17 March. Reportedly, a mother and her child aged six lost their lives. In addition, four people were injured.

· In Thatone Township of Mon State, there was a mine explosion on the way out of Moekaung Village on Monday morning. Reportedly, a train was derailed.

· In Netherlands, Myanmar people protested against the junta’s compulsory military service.

Ethnic Armed Organizations (EAOs)

· According to the Chair of the RCSS, the seven signatories of the Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement (NCA) will get started with administration in their respective areas from 17 to 19 March.

· In Karen State, a combined force of Karen National Liberation Army and the PDF attacked and took control of the junta army camp in Falu Village near Myawaddy on 11 March.

· In Than Phyu Zayat of Mon State and KyarIn Seikgyi Township of Karen State, New Mon State Party (Against Dictatorship), the KNLA and the PDF conducted a joint military operation on 15 March.

· The Arakan Army has gained control of the whole of Sittway District, except for Sittway City, in Rakhine State on Sunday.

· In Yathay Taung Township of Rakhine State, the AA took control of three junta camps on Sunday. Afterwards, they gained complete control of the town. Reportedly, they have seized nine towns so far.

· In Putao Township of Kachin State, a member of Kaunglanphu Militia, along with weapons, defected to local PDF on Monday morning.

· In Moemauk Township of Kachin State, the revolutionary forces took control of six junta camps on Sunday alone.

· In Kachin State, an alliance led by theKachin Independence Army has been attacking the junta camps since 7 March. So far, they have seized over 30 camps and caught over 300 junta soldiers alive.

· On Monday, the SSRY based in Southern Shan State announced that they would take effective action against those implementing the junta’s Military Service Law.

· On Sunday, Karenni-Moebye-Pekone Operation Zone warned the public not to use the transportation on land and on the water in Naungwoe, Banmauk and Nanphawmu with heavy battles related to the 1111 Operation.

· On Saturday, CDF Hakha arrested two junta informers in plain clothes in Chin State.

The Military Council

· On Sunday, the junta leader Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, along with his son Aung Pyae Sone, offered the umbrella to Kyaik Pyin Nyar Ya Stupa aged over 1000 years in Bago.

· The junta Industry Minister claimed that local cotton production accounts for only 33% and thus, more cotton manufacturing factories must be implemented.

· On Saturday, 24 political parties including the Union Solidarity and Development Party backed by the military junta released a statement condemning any activities which would do harm to a free and fair election.

· According to the junta’s Ministry of Planning and Finance, the customs clearance would be done with the MACCS in Tachileik border area starting on 22 March.

· Throughout the country, the military junta and the local administrators have been demanding money with an excuse of the Military Service Law.

· On Yangon-HpaAng Road, the military junta has set up more bunkers and tightened security.

· On the way out of Mandalay, the military junta has conducted stricter inspection of the youth in recent days.

· In Ayeyarwady Region, the selection by lots has been done for military servants in all townships, starting from the third week of March.

· According to the junta’s Mandalay City Development Committee, Thingyan pandals would not have to pay any money for the construction and it would be done ‘First come-first served’.

· On Sunday and Monday, the junta army shot mortars and conducted bombings in Pauktaw Township and Minbya Township of Rakhine State. Reportedly, up to 23 civilians lost their lives and 18 others were injured.

Summary on 19 March

· Despite the defence of all the junta armed forces, the AA managed to seize Yathay Taung. Reportedly, nearly half of the local townships have been in their hands. It is likely that the military junta will have to let go of nearly the whole of Rakhine State soon.
